So maybe I should ask for a referal to a gyno. My gp used to be an ob-gyn so hopefully she will know someone good to help me get the ball rolling. $150 or even $250 for a gyno appt is probably all we can afford at one time hence wanting to go public, event though there is the long wait, we will just keep ttc naturally during that time. I am making an appointment to see her on Tuesday and I will go armed with this info. So helpful, thankyou so much for indulging me

Definately get your referral to the gyno asap & request the lap

Depending on the Dr and the hospital, the wait may not be that long, but I completely agree with Nic - the sooner you're on it, the less time you're waiting.. and you can TTC in between.

If you're in the public system, it won't cost you - it will most likely be day surgery unless there are any complications.

Nic is right - In sydney we have a public clinic for IVF - where you only pay the gap, which was approx $1500 per cycle - it was run through a big hospital here & the nurses did most of the work (blood tests, scans etc) - you had the FS to do the egg collection & transfer.

I'm not sure if its changed now due to the medicare changes that came into effect from January this year, but I know quite a few girls who have done IVF this way & they have little ones to prove its just as effective

I'm not sure if Vic has a similar run program, but it would definately be something to look at later down the track if you needed to get there.
Hopefully a lap may do the trick as they can flush your tubes when you're under

Any questions, don't hesitate to PM me
