Now i know this sounds odd, by DH says (i realise this is very convenient!) that a lady at his work is doing IVF and her FS told her it is always good to do the deed with 24 hours of egg transfer... this helps the lining of the uterus etc develop naturally and i think the antibodies in the sperm do something good for you to? as soon as i heard this i had visions of my poor little embie being flushed away? i have never heard of this but wondered if maybe that was just me? i am afraid to stand after transfer in case it falls let alone BD....
your funny hun pmsl, but seriously i will be the same dh better not try anything with me its to much of a risk i rekon to be having sex after waiting so long for a miricale ill be on complete bed rest my mum is even going to have the kids for me..as i dont want to moove, i dont care what his sperm does as long as it stays away from me lol..
we decided NOT to DTD whilst on 2WW. My clinic says to do what you feel comfortable to do. Feel like i don't want to rock the boat down there at the moment- pardon my pun
I'm just resting as much as I can instead, drinking plenty of water and feet up whilst i can with 4 1/2 year old twins running around
Thanks everyone for your responses, i did some research last night and found that most places say to not have sex for up to three days afterwards and one even said no sex until you either get a period or you hear the featal heartbeat - poor DH nearly fell off the couch, so i have made the unanimous decisious to keep things down there well and truly locked, big no entry neon signs and boom gates!
Charlee,
Thats funny "neon signs and boom gates!" Probably too much info but i have not let DH near me since we started this cycle , 1st not allowed whilst stimulating then not allowed after EPU for a few days then far to sore to even want it and then ET not allowed for another couple of day and then so stressed out don't even want it. He has been great tho - hasn't even asked - i think he just understands now. At least i hope so - it must be hard for the fellas with the ivf thing they probably feel like they aren't contributing too much. Anyway good luck girls.
Both my FS and a chinese herbalist recommend within 6 -12 hours after transfer for the woman to orgasm. Not necessarily sex. They said it's because the acidity in the 'gina is very high and not conducive to sperm etc, however when she orgasms the acidity undergoes a chemical reaction which thickens the uterine lining and allows 'safe' passage for sperm.
I know that when trying to conceive naturally, it is a good thing for the woman to orgasm, as it does aid the sperm into the uterus. But I have to admit, as the sperm and egg have already met and made friends prior to ET, and ET effectivly bypasses the cervix anyway, I am more concerned about uterine contractions that occur during orgasm. I did not partake after ET or at any time during my pg (which is waaaayyyy OTT but I'm a LTTTCer, what can I say?)
As for sex prior to ET, I have heard of a story where a couple DTD just before ET, and when the Dr transferred the embies, his catheter returned with little spermies on the end of it. He laughed and said that at least he knows he deposited it in the right spot!
I personally would die of embarrassment if that happened to me! ROFL!
