Sadly the injections don't really scare me... Guess that comes with the territory of being a nurse... Is going to be weird injecting myself though after always doing it to others, I'm more scared about this not working either...
Oh you poor thing. Yes, that is scary (sorry, my first thought was needles....shudder!)
I just took each day as it came. I had meltdowns and amazing highs. My moods went up and down (as DH later told me) and I was forever fretting about doing the right amount, right time etc., etc.
I remember telling DH one day that we were wasting our time and money on something that wasn't going to work - the next day I was window-shopping for nursery furniture.
My best (only) advice is to join in here. The only way I got through it was to pour my heart out in the Belly Belly forums. No question was too silly or insignificant and there was always someone who had been there before and could provide some advice or a shoulder to lean on. I also relied heavily on the nurses at the FC. They provided wonderful support.
Take care and don't be too hard on yourself, particularly if you are having a "down day".
Thanks Cass... My DH and I were so positive it would work but after my appointment I am not so sure now... The dr was confident it would but I just have this sinking feeling in my stomach... I think we want it so badly that it just won't work... Silly thoughts I know, but all I have ever wanted was to be a mummy and it has been such a long and hard road to get here, I just don't know how long I can wait for it to work...

We used puregon with our IVF attempts. I think the biggest thing to remember is that the first cycle is all about learning how your body stimulates to certain levels of drugs etc. Depending on age and other things as to what dose rate you will be given, sometimes this is perfect and other times it wont be enough or even a little too much iykwim.
There are girls on here who are right where you are now or who have been there not too long ago. Ask all the questions you need and remember that there is always someone on here that will be a 'shoulder' for you

Thanks for your reply! I'm 29 and my DH is 32... My starting dose of Puregon is 33.3 units... Apparently this is the minimum dose they use for a starting round... I was quite surprised at how small the dose is compared to what others have used but thinking that this is going to be a 'trial run' as you said makes me feel more at ease! 😄
I have used puregon with each of my 3 IVF stim cycles... it is scary not knowing what will happen - they have to start you lower because they don't know how you will respond. I agree with LilyDust - the first one is like a trial (I reckon they should give you a discount for the first round!!)
Each cycle is a mixed feeling of excitement and fear all at the same time.... BB has helped keep me sane - hopefully you will find it just as good

I feel very lucky when I hear the full costs of the medications because I am only having to pay a very small portion of that!!! I am having treatment at a brand new fertility centre that I actually a bulk billing centre and when I do actually have to pay any costs, they are greatly reduced... I doubt that my DH and I would be able to afford to start treatment if I wasn't so fortunate!
Today when I went to my appointment the dr was unsure as to what has even caused my PCOS as all my hormones are normal and the only vitamin/ nutrient I had issues with was I had an EXTREMELY low Vitamin D count... I really hope that means that treatment will work quickly (but it probably just wishful thinking!)
