I have a question. I am thinking about buying a BBT thermometer. Only thing is, does taking temps work when you are taking fertility drugs? I am taking clomid, about to start my third cycle. The other thing is I have just finished up at work for good (untill I find a new job) so I won't be getting up at the same time every morning.
So do you think it's worth getting one?
My GP said they are a waste because they are unreliable due to meds, lack of sleep etc.
I do not have experience with fertility drugs but I do have experience with lack of/disrupted sleep and I would like to say that it has no inpact on my temp taking. Some others have said that your temp will be incorrect if you have a restless night and it is recommended that you have 4 hours of solid sleep before taking your temp then to do it immediately without moving/talking first. I personally can have a very rough night and then wake up and see my temp travelling nicely in a pattern, I can clearly see when I ovulate. I think that it is worth a try, do it for a month and see what happens, if it gives you some answers great, if not, then at least you know, right?
It can't hurt but don't take the temperature readings you get as gospel. When you're on fertility drugs your body does strange things. My FS told me to throw the BBT in the bin when I was doing my IVF cycle but I took a few temps and he was right, it was unnecessary stress when there was no need. My temps were all over the place but I still got my BFP.
It's up to you hun, but whatever is going to cause you less stress is the best thing.
