    Thyroid sore again!!!!!!!

    Hi Ladies

Im posting to have a ***** about our medical system. Hubby and I are waiting to see a FS/Endocronologist on september 20 so we can move forward on our TTC journey. I had sub acute thyroiditis 2 years ago where it is extremely painful to swallow, breath and just function. This is when they picked up that it was only a matter of time till it stops functioning. But My levels returned to to normal and my doc prescribed asprin because of the thyroid antibodies may be interfering with our ability fall pregnant. Last week I went to the doctore for frequent diarreaha she siad I need anti depressents to fix this WHAT THE? but was going to test for coeliac Disease just incase. she basically said it was in my head and she even pointed to it........ So today I want to see my regular doctor brecause my thyroid is sore to touch and I cant swallow without tears coming to my eyes but guess what I cant get in for 2 weeks. So I tried other doctors but I cant get in. How ridiculous, If I go to casualty they dont like it because it is not an emergency. I just want it tested now whilst its sore to see what happens to my levels. It could have alot to do with our uinexplained infertility but I guess I wont know AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH Our health system sux.

Sorry for the rant but im so frustrated

Man that sucks! all you need is a blood test!!!!
I always go to my GP for 'additional' tests for this, cause I like to test my levels more often than specialist reckons is necessary. Are there not many clinics/docs around in your area?
No help for you, sorry, but totally agree that it sux. Also, doctor's prescriptions sound a bit odd....

That really sounds ridiculous, i actually considered writing to the news paper to have a winge, because the fertility clinic lost my referral and i rang the surgery that wrote the referral to get a copy and of course they wouldnt give me a copy i had to see the GP again, such a waste of their time and mine. This happens so often and the appointments that must be wasted on rewriting scripts etc. it makes me really mad The funny thing was the next day it was headlines in Perth that our emergency departments are over run because no one can get in to see a GP (they could have had my appointment). I really wish you luck, it is frustrating enough not to be able to concieve, without any other added diffculties, feel free to vent anytime thats what were all here for and i reckon it does help

    Hi Loula

I got my thyroid test back and it is a tad overactive, hence all the diarreahea and hand tremors. but they want to see me in a month. This can happen when the thyroid is inflammed from a virus like the flu I just cant shake.havent got the ceoliac ones back yet so just waiting as usual.

Chin up Collo. You can take PTU whilst doing IVF and if yours goes into remission then no dramas. I've had 2 lots of it now. The 2nd time I knew straight away, but the first was horrid. it took them ages to work it out. I like my overactive thyroid as I see it as my weight control LOL, but seriously it can get very serious and does impact on the ability to conceive, but also once you do conceive you'll probably be on a much reduced dosage and there have been many cases where pregnancy has totally corrected the condition. My TSH level is only ever normal when pregnant or when doing stim. IVF cycles. Good luck and best wishes.
