Belinda that is fantastic news! I am so happy for you:) I really had a feeling it was going to be your month when you said about the issue with the sperm. You and your DH must be doing some major sober celebrating now!
Not long for me now till my BT, really dont know what to think this month:rolleyes: felt down last night as sure AF was on her way, as AF like pains, but then they disappeared. AF is due tomorrow, BT on Monday. Belinda did you have any symptoms like AF was coming? Did you feel any different? Did you inject pregnyl ?
Hope the rest of you ladies are also well, and sorry Amy to hear that you are having to wait this cycle out, how frustrating! I know how you feel about it being tempting to just go to IVF! I think I will also do that if we are not lucky in our few months trying naturally.I dont think i could handle the stress of an iui cycle again, as no doubt I would be on the verge of cancellation again.

Hi Fifi and Amy,
Yes, we are celebrating - me sober, DH having a few beers as I have had him on the beer ban for the past 6 weeks!!! Thanks so much for the warm wishes, I'm finding it hard to believe I'm actually pregnant.
Fi, I don't have any symptoms at this time. I did ask the nurse this morning and she says it is just too early for them. Usually about 6 weeks you will get MS and sore BB's. I'm going to enjoy it before they hit!!! I will tell you what was different this cycle and please don't take what happened to me as gospel, but every other month I have had Af type pains for about 1 week before Af was due. I didn't get any pain this month what so ever. AF type pains do happen when you are pg also, so I now how confusing it can be. As I have said before, it ain't over until AF sings at the top of her hideous voice!!! I honestly don't feel any different, and no I didn't have to inject pregnyl this month - thank god!! I did have to use crinone cream that is inserted twice daily. This is just another form of support but progesterone instead of the HCG.
Amy, I was in the same position as you. Dh and I seen FS and had the chat. When he told me that IUI was 10% success rate and IVF was 45%, we knew we wouldn't do another IUI. And after finding the issue with the sperm I'm glad now we did decide to bite the bullet and do IVF. It is a big step and so much more invasive than the IUI, so take some time to really think about the decision.
Again, thanks for the warm wishes and I will pop in again soon

Belinda, that's excellent!! :happyforyou: Congratulations hunny.
Amy, that sux you got a cyst! Hopefully your clinic can sort it out soon
Kaydee, sorry your BT was -ve! Whats next for you?
Swirl, Best of Luck with this tww, hopefully we have another BFP to celebrate on the 5th June!
Fi, how are you feeling? :crossfingers: that AF stays away.
I haven't been able to bring my FS appt forward, and I don't think the clinic will ring and offer any cancellations, so I'm going to have to wait until the 10th June. Which isn't too bad really, DH and I are looking at booking a skiing trip to NSW or VIC for June/July anyway, so the break is a good thing.
Good Luck to anyone I've missed!!
-
Hi Ladies,
Belinda I wanted to know did you have a break between your last IUI and starting IVF?
-
Hi Amy
No, I didn't have a break. I was given the go ahead for 2 iui's from FS. When I got to 1 week before my pg test for second iui I was a little uptight that I didn't have an action plan for the following month. I was very pushy with my clinic and insisted on seeing FS before end of the cycle. He ended up seeing me on the day before the pg test and by then I had started to spot. We then discussed the ivf and he told me I could go onto the short protocol as my Af was regular to the hour basically and I had responded well to the drugs with the iui. So I had appt with FS on Tues and started injecting on thursday for ivf cycle. I think the only difference with the short cycle as opposed to the long is that you don't seem to get as many follicles (at least that is what i was told). I ended up with 9 on the lowest dose of gonal f. I did decided however that if this first ivf didn't work in my favour I would have a 2 month break. My body needed a rest after all the hormones that we are pumping in. I am so glad now that I was a pest with regards to the appt!
Hi to you all, have a fantastic weekend!!
-
Belinda, congratulations on your bfp. All the best for a H & H 9 months! :bellygrowing:
Good luck Fi for your BT on Monday.
I'm now at cd2 (finally) and I have to go in on Tues for an US and BT to make sure everything is baseline and ready to start another round of oi-iui. Hoping all is normal and I'm able to begin.
-
Kaydee all the best for this cycle , i'm sure everything will be all set to go, your clinic sounds more through than mine, I never had a scan to check that previous folies had disappeared. Are you interested in having a double iui? Hopefully I will be a good advert for it, if AF continues to stay away;)
Fi x
-
Hi Fi, definitely keen for a double iui... if our clinic is able to do it. I'm going to ask on Tuesday... Fingers crossed AF continues to stay away from you!!
-
Hi Ladies,
Just writing to say I am out this cycle as well:( . Went into clinic and had blood test this morning instead of tomorrow as work changed my hours. See FS on Tuesday but will be trying naturally now. Feel I definately need a break and if that doesnt work will do IVF in a few months. Good luck to the rest of you ladies!
FI x
-
So sorry Fi  It takes it's toll on your body - particularly emotionally. Enjoy your few months off. Hope FS appt tomorrow goes well.
-
Hi Ladies,
Fi sorry to hear your news. As frustrating as it is for the first few days that you can't continue this month, by the end of the first week it is such a relief to have a break and how exciting to be going overseas.
Kaydee good luck for tomorrow, :crossfingers: that you can start again. My clinic also does the scan before starting the drugs to check that there arent any left over folicles, that was when they found that I have a cyst. I wish that I could go back and have another scan to see if it has reduced in size because at this stage they are unable to tell me how long I have to wait for it to go away.
-
Hi girls...
How are you swirl? Hope the TWW is being kind to you and not doing your head in too much!
Amy have they given you a date to return for another u/s or do you need to wait for day 1 of next cycle? I spoke today to the nurse who did my u/s. I was concerned the follies left over from last cycle hadn't gone and had turned into cysts (things you think about when you have no idea what's going on inside your body!!) She said that sometimes even though there may be a cyst, there may be no need to worry about it if it is not an estrogen producing cyst. She said it would be highly unlikely they could not go ahead with treatment today, even if they found something, because I'd had the month off. Hope you're doing ok with your time off.
Fi, hope your FS has given you a new plan of action for when you return from o/s.
:hello: Cherie Hope you are well and your TWW is flying by.
My appt went ahead this morning without any hiccups! U/s showed everything was clear and ready to go again. Picked up meds and I'm back on Sat for the start of the BTs.
Had a win today... boom gates were up at the hospital car park and I didn't have to pay for parking.Woo hoo!! Sounds crazy to get excited about parking but at $6 each time you have to go into the clinic, it quickly adds up each month. I get frustrated paying to park for a 2 minute BT!
-
Hi Ladies,
Kaydee that is excellent news that you are ready to start again. And I am glad to hear about the month off, :crossfingers: that they will let me start again soon.
How is everyone else going?? :)
-
Hi all,
I'm well. First week of 2WW down. Had early prog bt on Saturday because of slightly low levels last cycle. Prog was again slightly low so am now taking progesterone pessary each night when I go to bed. Rpt progesterone today was about 70 and much higher than usual for me 7DPO so am hoping this might help my chances overall.
FiFi: sorry to hear this cycle didn't work out for you
Belinda: congrats on the BFP, you must be over the moon
Kaydee: Glad to hear you're ready to go on your next cycle - GL
Cherie: hope the 2WW is treating you well.
Now its just waiting to me. I'll probably do a HPT on 2 or 3 June, then BT on 5 June if AF hasn't arrived.
Swirl
-
Just popping in to say hi. Hope everyone is going well.
2 injections down...
-
Hi all,
Good luck with the injections Kaydee.
I think there's only Cherie and I left in the 2ww.
My bt not due til June 5 (16dpo). I've just reaslised I have an appt with the FS on 2 June ( I thought I had made it for 9 June). I wanted to make sure I had an appt in case of BFN. Although I am keen to do a 3rd and final IUI cycle, I want to start planning in case that's a BFN as well. I have never had a laparoscopy (although HSG was completely normal) so the FS appt is to arrange a laparoscopy for straight after my 3rd IUI cycle (assuming its a BFN) so I can start IVF after that. I'm also moving between 3rd IUI cycle and IVF, so will need to change doctors and clinics, so there will be a break of probably a couple of months anyway. Would prefer for my exisiting FS to do the laparoscopy before I leave town.
I think I'll do a HPT on morning of June 2 and if that's neg will assume the cycle failed and keep my appt. If it's positive will probably still go but will hopefully not need laparoscopy!!!!
I have been feeling quite different this cycle but think its because of the extra prog pessaries and higher prog levels. Trying not to think about it too much but it's hard. Have the whole weekend to get thru before testing on Monday.
Swirl
TTC#1 12months + unexplained
FSH/IUI #1 - BFN
FSH/IUI #2 (plus prog pessaries) - BT 5 June

Hi ladies,
I hope it's OK if I join you here? We are about to start our first Clomid + IUI cycle this month, today is day 1. I have my first scan and BT on day 10, next Wednesday.
I'm feeling a bit unsure about all of this, it seems like such a big step to us :( but anyway, we don't really think there is much else we can do now. Here's hoping we all have some luck soon!
Look forward to talking again soon :)
-
Hi Megsmum, welcome! Hope your cycle brings you a much longed for BFP! How does clomid and an iui work? Do they trigger ovulation or just monitor through BT and iui when hormones indicate it's time?
How are you Swirl? Hope you're FS appt went well and your laparoscopy is not needed!!
:hello: Amy, Fi and Cherie... hope you are all going well.
I had an u/s this morning and showed a dominant follicle... only at 15mm but they still classed that as dominant enough to trigger. The others are at 12mm and 11mm and they didn't want to leave them to continue for another day without triggering in case they caught up too quickly and they would then have to cancel the cycle. Iui tomorrow... hoping this is 'the one' ... clinic nurses tell me 3rd cycle is the most successful but I don't want to get my hopes up or seem negative either!?
-
Hi Ladies,
:welcome: megsmum, I hope your time in here is short
Kaydee  good luck tomorrow. I like hearing that the 3rd is the most successful!!!
AF is due next Friday so fingers crossed that we can start again this month.
-
Hi all,
HPTs over the weekend were negative. Saw my FS who ordered a blood HCG this afternoon - BFN. So I can stop the progesterone and will expect AF in about 2 days. Then onto IUI#3.
Have booked my laparoscopy for 10 July and unless IUI#3 successful. Then IVF after we move.
Feeling pretty sorry for myself at the moment. Hopefully will feel better once progesterone out of my system.
Swirl
-
Hi Swirl,
So sorry to hear that it wasn't successful
Hopefully the 3rd IUI will be successful for us both.
-
Thanks for the welcomes ladies :)
Kaydee - From what I can gather (this is my 1st IUI with Clomid, so I'm not totally up on exactly what will happen) they will do BT and scans and once a follie reaches 18mm (I think!) they will trigger then and IUI next day. Good luck for tomorrow, fingers crossed for third time lucky!
Amy M - All the best for your next cycle, I am I right in assuming that you didn't IUI this month and you are waiting for AF to arrive to try again next month?
Hi Swirl, I'm so sorry to hear this cycle didn't work out for you :( Take care of yourself.
-
Hi ladies...
Swirl so sorry to hear cycle didn't work. Glad appt has brought you a new plan of attack for the following months.
Iui done today... no worries. Back tomorrow to be shown how to do additional injections to support hormone levels. Haven't had these before but first 2 cycles had spotting a week after iui was completed and well before BT was scheduled. Hoping these injections do the trick! :D
-
Hi girls,
Just stopping by to say hi.
Swirl, I'm sorry about your BFN  Hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky, and good luck for your Laparoscopy too!
Kaydee, best of luck for this tww. Hopefully it flies by and you have a BFP at the end.
megsmum, welcome. Good luck with everything for your first IUI. Hopefully it only takes the one try, and theres a BFP waiting for you.
I'm enjoying my break at the moment. My 'track marks' have cleared up, and I'm enjoying not having to go to the hospital all the time, and then trying to get to work in the city, which is a nightmare.
We have our FS appointment next week, so we'll find out what the next steps are.
:goodluck2: Best of Luck to anyone else that is waiting until testing!!
-
Hi guys,
Alloy: enjoy your break, hope your FS has a good plan for you.
Kaydee: congrats on the successful IUI, only 2 weeks to go now.
Megsmum: Welcome, hope your first IUI cycle goes well.
Amy: GL with starting your third cycle. Let's hope its third time lucky for us both.
Me: AF started yesterday. Saw FN this am to pick up medication. Start FSH 50U tonight. First BT on Tues next week. Hopefully it wont take as long to get to trigger as it did last cycle. FS didn't want to increase my FSH dose as she thinks that will only increase the risk of multiple follicles and having to cancel the cycle. She will cancel if 3 or more large follicles.
Swirl
-
Hi everyone...
Swirl good luck for your new cycle. Best to take it slowly than go through the injections only to end up with a cancelled cycle. Hoping your follies behave themselves this time round and respond a little quicker for you!
Amy have you started your new cycle yet?
Alloy glad you're enjoying your break.. It is definitely exhausting runing backwards and forwards to the hospital for appt and BT especially when you're rushing for work.. Hopefully this month might bring a BFP for you naturally!
Megsmum, how are you going?
We're cruising through the TWW... BT is on June 18. Have started on Pregnyl injections. 1st one was Thurs night and it wasn't pleasant! Hoping it helps a little jellybean stick!!
Hope you're all enjoying your loooong weekend!
-
Hi ladies,
Alloy - I know how you feel about the"track marks"! Man you should have seen mine last cycle :( Glad you are enjoying your break and good luck with the FS.
Swirl - Good luck for this cycle! Hope you get to trigger faster this time around.
Kaydee - Glad the TWW is treating you kindly :) Pregnyl sounds yucky! I nearly had to have it too for LP support, but my FS ended up recommending pessaries instead, they are not too bad and I'll be using them in the TWW this cycle again.
Me - Going along nicely taking my Clomid and so far have had no side effects, which I am really happy about. Last time I took it I had terrible depression, insomnia and hot flushes :( but have had none of it this time around. So I'm just hanging out for Wed when I have my CD10 scan and BT - fingers crossed it goes well!
Hope you are all enjoying your long weekend!
-
Megsmum, hoping those nasty side effects stay away!
-
Hi Ladies,
Glad to hear that everyone is doing really well.
I am still waiting for AF to arrive, she is due on Friday so hopefully she is on time and I will be able to go to the clinic that day and see if I can start again. It has been good having a month off but we are both ready to try again.
It is a strange feeling coming to this forum when you aren't able to do anything this month but I am so glad to hear that everyone is on track :D
-
Hi girls, hope you're all doing well.
Megsmum, good luck for BT & scan tomorrow. Hope it shows things progressing well.
Swirl, how are you going injecting... 1st BT today. Good luck..
:hello: Amy & Alloy. Great to hear from you during the week. Hope you're both well.
We are one week and 2 pregnyl injections down since iui. 1 week and 1 pregnyl injection to go! I'm not a fan of the injections... Tender for days where the medication is injected... Hoping it works!!! Trying so hard to think positive thoughts. It's about now in my past 2 cycles spotting has started. Hoping I make it to preg BT on 18/6...
Have a great day!
-
Hi girls. I popped my head in a few weeks ago, but forgot to come back in
We did an IUI cycle last month, with Puregon injections. It was a BFN :( which I actually wasn't surprised about, since our sperm sample only contained 0.7million sperm/ml (I guess that's 700,000) and the day after the IUI I ended up in hospital with severe gastroenteritis.
Anyway, I'm on to my second IUI cycle. Today is CD16, and my seventh day of injections. I saw my OB this morning, and I had one 17mm follicle and two 10mm follicles. He wants me to do another couple of days of FSH to try and get a few follicles 18mm or bigger, then we'll probably do the IUI on Saturday.
How is everyone else going?
I'll try to keep up this month lol.
-
Hi ladies :)
Cherie - Hi and welcome back. Good luck for this time around.
Kaydee - Only one week to go yay! I'll bet you'll be glad to stop the Pregnyl. Fingers crossed that AF stays away for you.
Amy - Glad to hear the month off has done you good :) Hurry up and arrive AF!!
Me - I had my BT and scan today and all went really well :) I had one 20mm follicle and a few decent size but smaller ones as well, so the clinic are happy for my to do the trigger myself tonight (I'm diabetic so used to injecting myself) and we have the IUI happening first thing on Fri morning. Has anyone got any tips for doing the trigger shot yourself? I know to take it out of the fridge for a bit before you give it but is there anything else I should know? I thought that I've read somewhere here that it can be a bit ouchies...
Bye for now, will be in the TWW soon again yay!!
-
The only problem I had with doing the trigger injection myself was that the glass vial didn't break cleanly - it smashed in my fingers, so then I had broken glass all over me, blood dripping on my hands, and then I was freaking out wondering if I was going to be injecting tiny particles of glass into my stomach. I think I probably squeezed the top of the vial a bit too hard, instead of just snapping it sideways IYKWIM.
-
Hi Meagsmum,
Congratulations on doing the trigger tonight, the trigger is the only injection that I am unable to do myself.....DH has to do it for me and he has to do it really really slow. I find that it does sting when it is going in but I find that once it is in I am fine.
Good luck on Friday :goodluck2:
-
Yikes Cherie!! Mine is a ready to inject syringe thank goodness, so I won't have to worry about doing that to myself. I must admit when I saw that it was a ready to go syringe I was pretty happy - don't like fussing around with glass vials at all!
Thanks Amy, I will inject it slowly :)
Thanks for the tips ladies! Will let you know how I get on over the next few days :)
-
Trigger shot went well :) It didn't hurt at all, but cripes that needle is huge after my insulin ones! I felt like I was trying to stab myself with a skewer or something!! LOL
Fingers crossed for IUI tomorrow to go well, I'm hoping my DD behaves herself during it
-
Yay for surviving the trigger megsmum, and best of luck for tomorrow :crossfingers:
I'm going in for a scan tomorrow morning, and will probably have my trigger tomorrow and IUI on Saturday.
I'm starting to feel frustrated with DH insisting that we do 3 IUI cycles before moving onto IVF. He has a really, really low sperm count, as well as poor morphology and motility, so IUI is really, really unlikely to work for us. Yes, I conceived my son that way (after a failed IVF cycle), but that was a huge surprise. Miracles don't happen twice. This will be my second IUI cycle, and if it doesn't work out (which I'm expecting), then I'd just prefer to move straight onto IVF rather than waste time with another IUI cycle.
-
Hi Ladies,
Megsmum I am glad to hear that you went well with the trigger and good luck with the IUI tomorrow :crossfingers:
Cherie hopefully this will be your last cycle with IUI and not have to worry about IVF.
AF has arrived today a day early  so I am going in for a scan tomorrow and hopefully :crossfingers: I can start injecting again on Saturday.
-
Hi,
Cherie, I know what you mean about breaking the vials for pregnyl shots. I did that a couple of months ago, and was paranoid about injecting shards of glass, until DH assured me that it was unlikely that there were any small enough to fit through the needle bit. Good Luck for your IUI coming up.
Kaydee, hows your tww going?
Swirl, sorry about your bfn  how are your bloods going at the moment? Hopefully you won't have to wait so long to trigger this time.
Megsmum, good luck for your IUI today!!
Amy, I hope you can start injecting again on the weekend!!!
I had my appointment with the FS on Tuesday. We discussed moving to IVF, and I questioned having a laparoscopy. We've booked that in for the 1st of July (while I'm on holidays thankfully, I'm starting to feel bad about time I've taken off from work. I'm hoping to go to 4 days a week soon, so that should help). Our FS said that it was up to us if we wanted to have a few more tries of the IUI, or move straight to IVF, so DH and I have decided to wait and see what the lap shows up, and if it identifies anything that could be causing our infertility, and it can be fixed/removed/whatever (ie endo) we'll have another shot of IUI, otherwise we'll go to IVF. We have another FS appointment on the 11 July to follow up after the lap, and discuss where we want to go.
I'm feeling great at the moment, having that choice on our side, and also because we got in fairly soon with the lap (I thought I'd have to wait weeks).
I'll pop in from time to time to see how everyone is going, hopefully there'll be a few more BFP's this time around!!
-
Hi Ladies,
Alloy that is fantasitc news that everything is moving forward and you don't have very long to wait.
Well I has my scan today and the FS said that the 'massive cyst has burst' but she has said that I have a smaller one....but it should be fine. I start injecting again tomorrow and back on Thursday to see how it is all going. :crossfingers: that the cyst doesn't cause any problems.
Have a lovely weekend ladies
