What tests can be done to determine if AC is needed?
Hi everyone, I've been having a look around these threads just to get an idea of when people started looking at AC and what tests they had done to determine that they needed AC. I saw on another thread that there was a list of test somewhere else around but I can't find it, does anyone know where it is?
I'm also wondering if many of you had miscarriages and if the FS or OB considered you not needing AC if you have proven yourself to be able to get pregnant in the 1st place?
A bit about my situation: We started ttc #1 in Sep 08, I've had 1 unconfirmed and 2 confirmed mc's this year. I am 32 and dh is 33. We have had several tests and they include, swimmers, progesterone, blood clotting, chromosomal translocation, immune disorders, thyroid and that is all I can think of right now. From what I've read tonight on other threads is it possible to find out the quality of your eggs? Or is that something they find out through IVF or something?
I am getting worried that I will just keep having miscarriages and don't know when it's time to move onto AC. My OB who is wonderful also works at an IVF clinic and said he felt it was just bad luck as all our test results were good so it's more than likely that bad sperm fertlilised the egg... Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? I kind of feel like I want every test under the sun so if there are more to get done to see if there really is a problem I'd really appreciate your help, thanks.
here is a thread I posted about some tests I was going to have re implantation issues. I think on the 2nd page someone has listed the barrage of tests they had done, which was pretty much what I had.
As for egg quality, I don't know if they know for sure, through testing. From my discussion with my FS yesterday, I think he said FSH level is an indication, and your AMH level gives an indication of ovarian reserve. From what I understand they really can only see egg quality issues when they have retrieved your eggs and looked at them in the lab. I think.
First of all, sorry to hear about your miscarriages.
I have had a number of fertility issues over the past 4 years - endo, blocked tubes etc. I had all of these things "fixed" and after my HSG in Sept 2008 I fell pregnant naturally but unfortunately miscarried. My FS told me that my tubes had more than likely blocked up again because 4 months after my m/c we hadn't managed to fall pregnant naturally again.
One failed IUI cycle and one successful IVF cycle, I am now 23 weeks pregnant.
Do you feel that it's time to move to AC? If so, do it. I wish I hadn't waited so long to take the plunge and go for it, but I guess everything happens for a reason.
I have made an appointment at Fertility Solution in the 1st week of January.. They are an IVF clinic aswell as other fertillity things... The consult is free and they basically look at your situation and let us know what they can help with, what extra tests they do etc etc so I can't wait
