    Default Urgent Clomid help please

Does anyone know how soon you ovulate after taking clomid. I was told by OBGYN that 100% I would ovulate on day 14, but pamplet with clomid said you ovulate 6-12 days after clomid ( didnt specify if that was after starting, or after finishing) and I am just trying to work out when best to bd to give us the best chance. BTW I took clomid days 5-9 this cylce. Thanks

EJE, has your OB done a scan to look at your follicles or any bloodwork? If he hasn't then I'm not sure why he'd be so certain that you'd O on CD14. I took clomid from CD5-9 and didn't O until CD21! The 6-12 days mentioned in the pamplet would be going from when you took the last tablet.

    Good luck.

I just took it for the first time this cycle and didn't ovulate at all so I don't think there can be any 100% guarantees as to when you will O. I think 5-10 days after last tablet is taken is considered the norm. Good luck.

I am having a BT on day 21 to see what has happened. I am pretty sure I will ovulate with the help of the clomid, particularly as last cycle i ovulated on my own, and my progesterone was 37, which i understand is a good reading.

My gyno told us to start bd'ing from 4 days after the last clomid tablet up until you get your period. I took the tablets on days 5-9 and ovulated day 18 with Gemma and day 21 with this bub.Goodluck!

Thanks Kirsty. Hoping clomid/metformin is as successful for us as it was for you.

Kirsty you mentioned that you ovulated on day 18 with Gemma, and day 21 with this bub. This may seem like a silly question, but how did you know exactly when you ovulated? Did you have a follicle scan or BT?

Kirsty - how many cycles did it take for you?? I am just having a moment. For Caitlyn it was the 4th cycle and I am already up to cycle number 3. Just hoping for some reassurance I guess.....

What sort of ovulation tests did you use?

Michelle-It took 2 cycles with Gemma(50mg days 5-9) and this second time it was the first cycle(50mg days 5-9) My gyno said though the average to fall pregnant on clomid is about 4 cycles and I remember speaking to 2 ladies from QML who did my blood work and they said it had taken them 4 & 6 cycles to get pregnant and that was with second pregnancies,HTH's.

EJE-I just used the ones you can buy off ebay. They are far cheaper than the ones at the supermarket and worked a treat.

    Hi EJE

How are you? I took Clomid from day 2 to day 6 and always ovulated 10 - 12 days after I took it (ie, day 16 to day 18), I also took Metformin to make sure my progesterone levels were correct, Clomid didnt work for me alone due to my poor progesterone levels which made me m/c. Have you started taking Met? I took 1000mg a day (2 tablets a day). The specialist told us to DTD from day 10 to day 20 every 2nd day and it worked for us. Wishing you all the best for conceiving mate. I didnt do any folicle tests only did the day 21 blood tests to check if I ovulated. I used Disvovery OPKs I only every got a positive OPK once which was when I concieved with this pregnancy!.

I took the tablets from days 5-9 aswell. My instructions from the dr was to DTD reqularly between days 14-24. I ended up being able to know the rough time I ovulated from the date of my period. You get your period in most cases 14days after ovulation. My first cycle was day 16 and my second was day 18. On the last cycle(in which I fell pregnant). We dtd days15-20. Every day. It worked. But our cycles can be very tricky. Hope you have some luck sorting out when you are ovulating, oh and also look out for the classic signs, cramping and increased ecwm.

    All the best.

    Love

Hi there, unfortunatley clomid didn't work for me, but that was due to my underlying undiagnosed endometriosis, but i used to take it from day 3-7, and would ovulate religiously on day 17. I think it is just one of those things, that all our bodies are different... you'll work it out and here's hoping you have great success!

Kirsty- yes the reason that I havent used the supermarket ones is that they are so expensive, and you only get 5 in a kit. I never thought to look on ebay for that sort of thing. Was there one brand in particular you found reliable? I have had my BT yesterday on day 21 to measure progersterone levels, and that will give me a pretty good indication if things are working. I feel very doubtful things have worked this cycle, I just kind of have this gut feeling IYKWIM, but I am very hopeful about the next cycle.

Hi Bel. I have been following some of your posts with great excitement with your pg. I think we chatted a few times last year in one of the metformin posts. I have been taking Metformin for over a year now. I have been on 1500 (3 tablets) per day. It seemed to work well last year, with me getting pg twice, but unfortunately I m/c both times. It has now been 6 months since my last m/c and as nothing was happening dr suggested we do a combination of metformin and clomid. He started me on 100mg of clomid straight away.

Thanks firemans girl and helen p for your advice.

It would seem that most people on clomid ovulate on day 16-21, and therfore that would be a good time for us to concentrate our bding.

I can't remember the brand of the opk's off ebay. They are ovulation predicitor strips. If you do a search on them I'm pretty sure theres only one or two people who sell them. You can get bulk lots of them for really really cheap. And of course with clomid you only have a rough idea of when you ovulate, so I went through stacks of them!Goodluck.....
