    Question Very high progesterone???

    Hi,

    I just got my 15dpo bt this morning and the results were:

    hCG = 454 (YAY FINALLY THINGS ARE LOOKING UP! FINGERS CROSSED...)
    Prog = 300+ !!!!!

    I have researched every where and I cannot find anywhere listing levels this high. At this stage they should be around 50?? Even websites which list progesterone level of women having triplets and quads etc dont have levels this high. the highest i found anywhere was 202.

    SOME BACKGROUND INFO[/U]: Unexplained infertility. Me & Hubby look great on paper. Healthy, fit & 27yrs old. This month I was on 50mg Clomid. Had a HSG done CD7 this month - ALL CLEAR! At CD12 F/S saw 3 mature follies and a few immature (10mm or less) on both ovaries. Had hCG trigger CD12 late night. IUI's on CD 14 & 15. Then hCG boosters on 3, 6, 9 dpo. Prog pessaries x 3 per day since 1dpo.

    I know i am taking pessaries, so my levels are slightly elevated from that. And I know it's possible that I released 3 eggs, hence more Corpus Luteums to pump out more progesterone. But ... 300+!! And the hCG inj's have worn out by now, so it's not due to that.

    Any ideas / thoughts???

    PS-also, does anyone have any thoughts about my hCG level in combination with my progesterone? the general guide for 15dpo is 3-426 miu. so mine isn't that much higher than the higher extreme. or has anyone had a similar experience?

    Mmmm...I wonder how many little ones are snuggling in

    Everything you've explained makes sense...3 x pessaries and 3 follies = lots of pregesterone!!!

    Did FS discuss possibilities of multiples with 3 mature follies? Very exciting...good luck!

    there are lots of sources of progesterone there - the trigger and boosters would have helped lift p4 levels, add the natural p4 from your ovulation plus a really high dose of progesterone pessaries - i don't think your levels are all that high to be honest! sushee (one of the mods, who went through IVF) had very high natural p4 and only had one little monkey nestling in there

    good luck in your pregnancy

    I agree with BG - with all of that going on your level is not that outrageous. Of course your chances of a multiple are higher given your method of conception and that 3 follies were mature. Mine was around that with clomid, trigger and no pessaries and I only had one little bubba in there. Relax - it's a good sign. The level of 50 would not be such a great result and I think that you may be looking at US measurements...

    FWIW - i had three follies at IUI, only two booster shots, and at 14DPO my levels were over 70. i didn't have any pessaries at all, so at that point, i was 6 days after my last booster shot and was doing it "all on my own" i guess!!

    i only have one bubba growing in there - was kinda excited when i found out to be honest - one bubba will be just perfect to throw me into mummy-dom! and the morning sickness with one (for me!) is more than enough!

    Like BG said, I had very high P4 levels. In fact my P4 levels at 13dpo was 1000+. I dropped from 3 pessaries to one pessary and at 16dpo it was still 960+ . I stopped all pessaries at that point (on my Dr's orders of course) and yet my levels stayed well over 500 for weeks after.

    I asked my Dr to explain it and he basically said that if you're good at producing P4 all on your own, then the P4 supplements are unneccessarily increasing your levels. It can make you incredibly bloated (I was! In fact I looked over 6 months pregnant at 4 weeks) and can cause cramping and pain, but it's not dangerous, and no it doesn't necessarily mean it's multiples either. Like BG said, mine was definitely a singleton pg, and in fact my HCG was a little on the low side. Not that that mattered in the end, because as a result of that pg, I now have a beautiful 2 and half year old son.
