What Clomid Protocol are you on?

    Hi all,

It seems to me that there are many, many different ways to use Clomid and all with varying results. I would be interested to know...

    1. What days did you (or do you) take it
    2. How long have you been taking it (or how long did you take it for)
    3. Did you O?
    4. What days did you BD
    5. Was it successful - and if so which cycle
    6. What side effects did you have?
    7. What strength did you take?

My answers to my own questions...

    1. Days 4 - 8
    2. Second round but my temp has dropped so I guess its a bust for this month
    3. Yes - i already did O - the Clomid was to make it "stronger"
    4. 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 - FS said this was enough but it doesn't "feel" like it is.
    5. No
    6. 1st cycle I was exhausted and CM was not nearly as good as non Clomid cycles. 2nd cyle - the same. No other side effects. I also take Metformin with no side effects.
    7. 50mg

    Lilybella,
I have used clomid to successfully conceive. With this conception it took 5 rounds and I conceived using 150mgs of clomid. I had u/s monitoring and had 3 ripe follies. Only one egg was fertilised and I am 10 weeks pregnant today. I never get much noticeable ewcm so I can't comment but you should be having u/s and this will tell you if your endometrium is nice and thick and yur follies are ripening. Most obs will recommend using opks as well as there is no given when you will ovulate or what constitues a ripe follie for you. My follies were 31 mms when I ovulated one cycle. Yet, 18mms is said to be ripe. So, if you just go by the measurement you could be having intercourse too early and not for long enough. We had intercourse daily from when I got a positive opk for 4 days. This worked for us - but my husband has no sperm issues either.
I wish you a very soon my love...

    Hi Flowerchild,

Thanks so much for the feedback! It is so easy to get dismayed, disenchanted and disappointed with this whole TTC thing. It is so nice to know that Clomid has in fact worked for you. I have my fingers crossed it will do the same for me.

I am not so sure about the FS that prescribed them to me I have to say. I am not having any monitoring apart from a Day 21 Progesterone test with the first cycle. She tells me just to keep taking it until it works. No ultra-sounds or anything. Maybe I should be looking for another FS. Hmmmm.

At any rate, it is so fantastic that it has worked for you. I am really thrilled. I have been stalking your story for some time now. (I am good at reading BB but a not much good at contributing I must say.. I get all shy about it believe it or not. I know that is weird!) and I wish you all the luck of the universe and good baby vibes for you and your little one!

I am on 150mg this is my thrid cycle and I ovulated only on 150. I ovulate on cd14 of a 28dc. I take it cd 5-9 and suffer no side effects since takign chinese herbs as well.
I have no other monitoring apart fomr 21 day test of which my score has ranged from 35 to 55. DOc says anything above 20 on a medicated cycle he is happy with. I was worried about not being monitored more from all I had read but Doc said as I had been pregnant before and responded he doesnt feel it neccesary.
Each doc is different so its up to you if you feel you need that extra monitoring.
FIngers crossed the clomid does the trick for you.

    Hi Lily.

I'm on 25mg, my first cycle of Clomid. I already ovulate but am starting to worry that clomid may have messed around with my cycle as I'm on CD20 and my temps don't show that ovulation has occurred. I have no monitoring at all but I'm seeing my FS for a review consultation in a couple of weeks and will definitely be asking for some kind of monitoring, if only to reassure me that things are still working the way they should. I'm taking tablets days 5-9 and BD days 12, 14, 16, 18, 20.

My sister recently fell pregnant on her first round of 50mg (after a few rounds at a lower dose). Here's hoping our BFPs are just around the corner!

Lilybella - thankyou for your kind thoughts. Some FS don't do u/s on the first couple of cycles. I guess you have to decide what you are comfy with. I am 39 and I did't want to be mucking around so if my specialist hadn't monitored me I would have asked for it for that reason. The cd21bt is routine for clomid users and this shows the progesterone level which will indicate if you have ovulated or not.

Remember you are the consumer if you want to have u/s monitoring ask for it and I am sure your doctor will comply...
