Who got a BFP will a low number of follicles/eggs

    Hi All,

I am on my 4th IVF cycle and I think the clinic is going to get me to trigger today or tomorrow, but with this cycle, I don't have many follicles - only 5 (size20,14,14,10,9 mm). Just wondering if anyone has achieved pregnancy with a low number of follicles or low number of eggs at collection.

I'm very interested to see who got a BFP with poor stimulation.

    Thanks & kind regards,

    Hi Max,

Five follies is still good - its not so much the amount of eggs etc but the quality of the egg that counts- remember it only takes one good eggie for a BFP. I have only ever had at the most 5 eggs retreived and mostly they all fertilised and have had blasties out of them, i have fallen twice but unfortunatley m/c twice as well. All i hope for you is good eggies to make a beautiful baby - sending you heaps of and

    Hi Max,

Havent had a BFP (Yet). But dont think the number of eggs counts but the quality. I had 25 eggs retrieved last week, 14 fertilised and only 1 made it for transfer!
Good luck and sending you lots of positive vibes!

    Max,
I have had many pickups and transfers but my most sucessful pregnancy was achieved from a pick up of 7, this was after many pickups in the 40's and 50's I had one pickup with so many and on the day of the transfer we were told nothing had acted normal so we got nothing...its quality.
You still have a 20 and a few laging behing that will pick up in the next few days...Good luck

    Hi max,
With my first daughter I had 7 eggs collected (they thought prior to pick up that there would be 5), of these only one was viable and I got a BFP with that one and now have a 2yr old DD. I hope it all goes well for you and you get your BFP too!

Max....I am sending you heaps of positive vibes for your EPU. Both my boys were little IVF miracles. With Mikey I collected 8 and six fertilised, and with Luke I collected 6 and 4 were fertilised. Good Luck

    Hi Max,
with my first cycle I had 5 follies, 4 eggs. 4 fertilised and we replaced two at day two and froze two. With that cycle I had a BFP, but was a chemical pregnancy.

With my second cycle I had 7 follies, 7 eggs. Four fertilised and three made it to day three, when we had assisted hatching and replaced two. I got BFP and am now 13 weeks pregnant (crossed fingers). Think quality NOT quantity

    good luck!

Hi Max, like the other girls have said, it's not quantity, it's quality. I only have one functioning ovary so I was never going to get high numbers of follicles. All my u/sounds showed only 7 follicles (which I was pretty devastated about) but imagine my delight when I woke up from my EPU and saw that little "14" written on my hand! You couldn't wipe the smile off my face for days.

I have no idea where they were all hiding, but in the end all 14 fertilised, we transfered one and have 10 frozen (yikes! wasn't prepared for that). So of the original 14 eggs collected, we had 11 embryos.

Our little miracle is due in about a month!!

Just remember that things can turn around really quickly on a stim cycle. I hope your EPU is wonderfully successful and you are expecting a little miracle of your own very soon.

    Hi Max

I know exactly how you are feeling! I woke up from EPU last friday to be told i only had 3 eggs, i bawled my eyes out until they finally let me go home. I was so dissapointed in my body after having a good result last time. We had an axious wait all weekend to see if 1 had survived until Monday sure that we would have nothing to transfer. To our delight Monday morning we had a grade 1 and a grade 2 emby for transfer. I am now in the TWW and feeling much more confident. Just to reiterate quality not quantity Good luck tomorrow!

Oh Max! Please do keep us updated on your progress.
It turns out that I am in a pretty similar situation. Out of 18 follies, apparently only 3 look like they will be the right size on collection day this Friday. I was about ready to give up, and think about starting over, but have since read a lot of people do end up with a few more viable eggs than they are told, and some go on to produce BFP's, so DH and I have decided to hang in there! I hope your EPU went well. I'd love to know how you went.

    Hi Arielle,

Out of the 5 follicles they only got 3 eggs last Friday. I was a bit upset, but didn't cry, as I am trying to think positive, as I have done 3 stimulated cylces and every time, I have got a bit further, so I thought this is my chance.

All my eggs were ICSI'd as I have always had that done because of the low number of eggs collected each time. So on Saturday, I get a phone call that only 2 eggs have fertilised and has 2 cells in them. That is still good news for me. So the FS decided to do a day 3 transfer as I only had 2 eggs left and I wanted 2 transferred, so better in than out .....that is what they told me...So on Monday (day 3), I had an 8 cell and a 4 cell embryo transferred..

Now I am waiting for the 7th of October to hurry up for a blood test...fingers crossed..

I hope your EPU goes well...you never know....the other follicles might grow...you never know...
    And think positive.

What they told me to do is drink a lot of water after the transfer....so try and drink at least 2 litres a day.

Keep me posted with your progress also.

    xx

Thanks Max! I will keep you posted! Please keep me posted on your situation too.
Looks like I will be a week behind you if I have a day 3 t'fer (this coming Monday). I hope the 7th is here before you know it. We too will be having our eggs ICSI'd due to DH's swimmer issues. Fingers crossed we get a few good'ins to fertilise. I'd love it if we could go to blast, but hey, if we don't, as we have seen, there are plenty who've had BFP's from day 3 t'fers.
    Sending lots of your way.
    BEST OF LUCK!

Smithy: I know it is hard, but try and stay positive. Have you had a call from the clinic today? How are your little babies going? I hope that you get some good news today from the clinic I would love for you and Areielle to join me on this journey.

Areielle: Good luck on Friday. Lots of sticky vibes to you. Let us know how you go on Friday. I will be thinking of you on Friday.
