Not quite 12 months work and bubs is on the way

So many things are running through my head atm.

I knew when we had our FET that if it was a sucess ( and it was) that I wouldn't have been in my perm part time job for 12months when my bub will be born.

When I had the interview I was pg and mc just after. I didn't know if when It would stick.

I haven't spoken to my boss yet as she has been away for 8 weeks but am very nervous about my rights and what they will do for me, or not.

I work for a christian NGO as a Manager and I'm hoping that due to my good work and continued commitment to their organisation that they will overlook the 8 weeks shy of my 12 months and best case give me the 6 weeks paid plus 12 months off (of which I'll only take 12 weeks total)

I rang the union (which I joined asap after BFP) and they said they should keep my job but may not pay the 6 weeks. Which I'd be happy with or though much happer with 6 weeks.

I have a car and a phone with my job (to compensate for the very low wage) and I'm also wondering if that will stay with me for the 12 weeks or go back into the office in which case I will be without transport (very scary thought indead)

Has anyone had any similar situations?

I guess all will be reviealed some time this week if I get the courage. to me

firstly congratulations. And secondly yep i have very recently been in the same situation. I started a new job with westpac (prior i was at cba with 6 months paid mat leave entitlement) and 4 weeks into it found out i was 6 weeks pregnant. This was due to ivf and we really didnt think it would work.i was stressing out that i was going to get fired the whole time. I told my boss when i was 12 weeks and they were fantastic i get 6 months paid mat leave and can take up to 24 months. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and couldnt be happier. Please dont stress as things always work out the way they are meant to. Goodluck xx

Well I did It I told my boss and she was happy gave me a hug and everything. Then it came to the "how's this going to work" chat and she said that my job was secure and we'd try our best to make sure I get as many entitlements as possible. I said I want 10 weeks off and she said "as much as you need" so i'm in a much happier place now.

Tell the big boss Thursday, my boss wanted to but said I could then they'd speak and get back to me on the plan. Fingerscrossed.
