I am not good at union jargon so thought I might come here and ask as I'm sure someone will know something....
I am a nurse and finished paid maternity leave last november and returned to work. Now, I am UTD again () and am due in early October. Will I be entitled to paid maternity leave again?
I know that with my workplace (public hospital) I had to have worked there for 12 months before being entitled to mat pay. So- does this 'reset' after paid mat leave IYGWIM?
Good timing for your question! (well, for me anyway! )
I'm not utd (yet!) but have been wondering the same thing! Here's hoping someone knows! (oh, I'm in education not health but am figuring there's a good chance the conditions would be the same???)
I'm with telstra and a lot of the conditions carry over from government times - we can actually start mat leave without returning IYKWIM? But to keep our job open you have to work at least 1 day / year. So you should be able to start mat leave any time. And now you can take up to 18 months off work and not lose your job.
It depends on your company policy but being in a government system that is highly unionised your conditions should be transparent. I think that seeing that you have been there over 12 months from commencing employment and that you have returned to work since having the first baby then you should be fine. I would call the union though to enquire.
Mmmmm I work for local gov and need to check this out too as we hope to return to IVF when DS is one and I'm due back at work when he is 16 mths
I always thought that you have to be back from mat leave for 12 mths before accessing paid leave again but always intilted to mat leave without pay after working 12 mths regardless of being on leave prior.
I will call our hr dept some time soon to clarify lol.
