Ah bugger
At airport on way to Sydney two nights two days only this time, happy to be going because is good for me work wise but seems more often I travel the harder I find leaving - suppose is because is less exiting time and meals on my own the more I do it. Oh and starting work at 7:00 am tomorrow means no lie in and hotel breakfast :-) Kids didn't even notice me go too engrossed in playschool. DD had helpfully NOT unpacked my bag and put on my work shoes and shirt "I just wanted to be like you mummy and go to work" - she is so interested in my work these days - I am making her a play warehouse.
Love it!!
On my way home now.
Was looking like I was going to have to go to Gold Coast two nights, but have been able to sort it back out as one night :)
Hi Ladies,
Wondering if I can join you in here? I have been back at work firstly when DS was 6 months old, was made redundant end of March but only had 5 weeks off as I temped until I started a new position 2 1/2 weeks ago. The new position has turned out to be really ordinary but I was contacted yesterday by a company to interview with them thursday night. I am going to go and have a chat with them and see what happens.
DH only works part time but DS is in full time daycare as at least that way he definitely gets fed and supervised. I loved my job and hopefully can find something I enjoy just as much. I am a much better working mum than stay at home mum.
Welcome :)
Welcome bubbaT!
Forgot to update here. New job prospect not looking good. They just made a bunch of ppl redundant. I'm assuming that's a no then. Bum out coz I want to work with the ppl. Not phased abt the company that much. But now that the ppl's gone. Kinda pointless even if the job is offered. Oh well. At least I didn't quit this one yet.
I still hate my office with a passion I've taken last 2 days off cause I just can't bring myself to go.
I feel like I'm wasting my time. I'm not challenged and I'm sitting around 8 hours a day twiddling my thumbs and shuffling paper.
There is just nothing in my industry at this time of year :( maybe I should just find an admin job
What industry are you ladies in?
Thanks for the welcome ladies.
BD that sounds like me now, there is only so many times a day you can ask for more work.
Nutter - I am from an admin/ Cust Service background,
Interview tomorrow -keep your fingers crossed for me ladies
fingers crossed!!
I'm insurance broking
I'm in IT/utilities.
Fingers crossed.
Long day today at WHSE at seven and only just back at hotel. All good though mostly. Ok on way
*fingers crossed* for u bubbaT
Hi ladies,
just joining in,
I am a working mum too. I was Full-time till I had DD1, and then had some mat leave and then went back to work part time, and have been back at work part time again now for a few months after DD2. Really not liking work at present, it's not the being a mum thing either its the stupid politics at work! hoping I win lotto soon.......
Nutter I realise your question was probably directed at BD and Veus but I am curious about everyone else too, what does everyone else do? I'm a Team Leader at a Telco - I look after our Hardship program. Rewarding and busy!
I'm having a slight regression with regards to coping with work/family, I'd hit my groove quite nicely but this week am missing the kids a lot. It's DDs first birthday in a few weeks and I think that milestone is making me regretful of the time I am missing with her, and DS is always a little upset when he realises its a work day for me. 11 more weeks till I am part time again when DH goes back to work - while I dont want to fast track his time with the kids I really cant wait to get more time back with them
Accounting/Payroll Software
Sorry Ladies, been very slack with this thread, but this time of year I am at my busiest ;)
Question was directed at everyone :)
I'm in the legal industry.
Welcome milly5! :-)
MummyNaomi: I get days like that all the time.
We have 2 periods when we're crazy busy, at the moment is one of them. Another at the end of year.
I am in IT/SAP logistics/warehousing
An unplanned night in Sydney for me, amused front desk as checked out this morning but at about 11 was decided will be needed again tomorrow so back at hotel this evening - got a room on different floor this time. But my colleague went home so in room dining tonight.
Poor DD was looking forward to me being back apparently but has been placated with photos of me in a high vis vest and of boxes in the warehouse, DS no concept of time yet really so provided he sees the video of stream train I took on weekend 20 times a day he is happy. DH had been working late in workshops all this week too, so lots of bonding with the grandparents for the nippers this week.
What a shame you are stuck another night Wsyiwig.
It's interesting seeing what industries we are all from.
Well job interview done and they talked about coming in for a second interview so sounds good :)
I think I'm going to have to call in sick tomorrow. All those pressing deadlines and rounds of antibs have knocked my body sideways, and I'm not doing so well today.
Ironically, I think I'm going to have to be sick tomorrow and Wednesday, but not tuesday, because I have an important marketing function.
Silly me for not scheduling my illnesses better.
Sorry your not feeling well Peanutter.
Is it really Sunday night already? My house is a shambles and I am already tired :(
Wah why does money come around so soon.
I'm having a dilemma about having #2
Hope sick people feeling better, interview processes going well and thoughts about #2 good.
Away again next week Mon to Thur - prob second to last trip on this contract I reckon. DS 2nd birthday is Wed so we are switching it to Sunday at least you can do this with 2 year olds.
Had a few phone calls this week about new contracts ( they all record when you are due to finish) but nothing promising they all want full time :-( Maybe when DH contract finishes in 2015 maybe we can switch - if anyone wants me by then.
Decided #2 is happening scored free Amby hammock yay
WYS- how good is it that they don't understand days yet:)
BD - yay for number 2, we are TTC number 2 as well, I haven't managed to join the ttc group though - moved so fast to keep up with
Bubba t noone actually posts in there anyway lol
Hi all, I guess I should pop my head in here :( as I am into my second week back at work. Please tell me it gets easier.
WWYD, days into your return to work and your baby has an urgent paed appointment? Miss G is teething and has horrific, peeling spreading eczema and nasty nappy rash as a result. She is mostly happy but it needs to be dealt with ASAP. Go to work as per usual and meet DH with her for appointment (I work in the same building as paed) or take the day off even though I've only just started back? If she was miserable, there would be no question on what to do but I feel so guilty even contemplating going to work when her rash is so bad.
I would go to work - and if necessary duck out for the appointment, or just let your DH handle it. When I was full-time and DH part-time had to get used to him just taking care of things - it is hard at first but it is also good for DH and kids to do all sorts of things together. Remember that your DD is not thinking "I have nappy rash and mum has deserted me" that is an adult take on things. I tend to only take days off when absolutely necessary because you never know when something will come up that is a necessity and don't want to be feeling like 'wasted' days off when didn't need to IYKWIM. I hope her rash gets sorted.
I'd just duck out for the appointment too, unless that would get them worked up, and it would be upsetting for them when I went back to work. If that might happen, I actually wouldn't go, I'd just check in with DH after the appointment.
It can be hard to do the transition back to work (both for you and hubby and bubs) so I found a clean break with defined lines to be good.
But it really depends on what works best for your family - what is right for one might not be right for another.
Big hugs.
It does get easier.
Can I join in? I'm back to work in a few weeks. Feeling very conflicted about it :(
Hi there, MG! I've hardly seen you around lately :)
Good luck with the switch back - how many hours will you be doing?
So I guess I be looking at maternity leave sooner than I thought. Got BFP today. I'm still in shock
Congratulations BD!
