My first job - had to go to a two day assessment center - the first day I walked into the conference room went to sit down at my designated spot and it was a spinny chair as I went to sit on it - it span round and I ended up flat on my back on the floor - there was only the HR guy there no other candidates there thankfully - but it was still pretty embarrassing! I got the job though. I think it actually works in your favor something like that :-)

Jaycee ~ my commute is 110km. (Takes about 1hr 20mins) so too far to do it comfortably when on nights.
Its crazy to say im scared ****less... its going to be a struggle doing nights as it is, but to.be away from the family will.be worse.
Im also worried about bf...Spock still has 2-3 a day. I might go post in bf thread

110km - far out TT thats intense!

So job interview #1 went really well. I feel like I gave it everything and was well prepared etc. If I dont get it, it wont be from stuffing up the interview, it will be because someone else is the better candidate. Should hear early week if I have it. Job interview #2 is tuesday morning. Will be prepping again tomorrow night !!

TT40 - hope the night roster goes/has gone ok? Did you see my post in the BF thread.

Work is going ok, but I am so fed up with my foot/camwalker boot - it seems to be getting worse in a different area to before and is all hot - I wonder if is chilblains?? It feels like it did when I got it badly sunburnt once - might have to go to doctors tonight to get it checked out again - is over a week since I did it and the original swelling is all gone - but it was less painful last week than this week.

Interview is tomorrow now as interviewers daughter is sick, just as well as I'm home with DD today who is sick too

applied for a pt job in my industry thinking it would already be filled and they called me for interview. I'm so scared I don't know I'm ready to go back yet

And good luck BD, I can't see your ticker, how old is your little one? Is this when you were planning to go back? (Not that it makes it any easier!)

I still have 6 months or so of Mat leave to go, but I'm still hanging around on here, as I find it a good way of helping me prepare to go back, hope you gals don't mind!

She is 3.5 months. Wasn't planning in going back till 6 months but pt roles in my industry don't come oh often.

Doc wants me to have ultrasound to rule out clot and take AB's to make sure no infection - wasn't expecting that thought would just say chillblains or is normal. Ho hum more money down toilet on medical stuff and lost work hours, and my folding bike well and truly on hold.

BD - I tend to adopt a what will be will be attitude, if you are meant to be working part time you will get the job, if not you won't, I would reassess if you are ready once have been for interview, good part time jobs can be hard to get so I would see how it seems at the interview, you might go and it not be for you at all.

Pretty good, I feel the first one went better though. Yesterday was casual though so it was a bit of a change of pace. I got the meeting rooms mixed up and was a few minutes late - doh! The interview was changed and a new invite wasn't sent to me so when I looked up the room booking in our system I read the room and floor numbers around the wrong way.
I have a presentation to deliver tomorrow for the first one though. This is the final stage. I have something which I think is pretty awesome to present so I feel good. Should have outcomes of both sometime next week. Funnily after going through the interview processes my preference for the roles has changed.

Wow, lots to catch up on

MN isn't it interesting how something that seems one way on paper can seem totally different when it's presented another way? And a huge part of it for me is the people - the project I'm on sounds kind of crap but if the team are friendly, nice, will have a chat about weekend plans and other niceties, then it makes it all bearable.

All the best with the presentation - good that it's something you are excited about

Wysiwyg you just can't catch a break with this foot hey?? Really hoping its not a clot or something else complicated. You've got travel plans coming up don't you? Hope it isn't going to jeopardise anything??

TT, how did your time away from Spock go? Must have been rough

BD, sorry you're faced with this decision sooner than you'd have liked. Which industry are you in? I'm in the same boat in my industry (same industry that wysiwyg is in) - part time positions aren't that easy to come by. It sucks that we can't all do what we want to do... Decisions like this are difficult.

I was doing a bit of stalking and reading too, when I was working out what we were doing.

Afm, well after my crappy days last week, I had my two half days at home Thu/Fri, then started my normal working week, which will be two half days Mon/Tue at home, then in the office today and tomorrow. Except due to my technical fails, I was unable to actually work from home, so I basically carried on my life as normal. And then I got paid for it.

Anyway, so that makes it better. The pay, I mean. And then I got in today and my computer had been fixed and I was actually able to start doing stuff. I've got a meeting tomorrow with my new project manager to discuss my role and hopefully start working on actual deliverables.

As I said above, I really hope the team is nice. You know, the kind of people who will actually say good morning when you arrive and ask what you've got planned for the weekend. I need that kind of social interaction otherwise I get really down at work and it'll just make it all unbearable. So, we will see.

Yes OP we are going up to Litchfield NP in NT mid to end of July camping with my folks, I will still be able to go, but might not be able to do as much walking as I might have. There aren't any clots, and I do think the antibiotics seem to be doing something - an infection with no wound is not normal though so that does have me slightly worried.
Hope your meeting with your PM goes well, and you score a good team.

The interview was good. It was advertised as 3 half days but I told him on the phone a week earlier that I was chasing full days or wasn't worth it. At the interview he offered me 2 full days to start with which suits me fine. He Said the job was mine. Just waiting on a call this week to tell me what the money will be then I will make a decision. Seems like a great family orientated business so could work well.

Now to battle the 'do I try and express for daycare or do I just send formula and bf the rest of the week' condundrum.

Also not sure if I should do 2 days straight or work tues and thurs.

What do you all do/think?

I would work Tues Thurs, I do Mon, Wed, Thur and Wed my least fav day because is only day where I have work again the next day. I think if you are not planning on expressing then I think having the gap day would probably work better supply wise - if expressing then I don't think makes too much difference.

Also if there is any sickness issues - is easier if you have a day between because more of a chance will be well again by time is next work day IYKWIM.

Agree on split days. If they are sent home from childcare, especially for vomiting, they are not allowed back for 24hrs, which means they can't go back the following day.

My two are always sick on weekends (or holidays) and often the fact that work Monday and then have Tuesday off has worked in our favor as they have been good to go by Wednesday - is DH who tends to take the time off but whichever way having the gap has definitely saved one of us from having to have day off.
