    Antibiotics and pregnancy

    Hi All
quick question has anyone ever taken antibiotics whilst pregnant?

I have a very large and painful sebatious (sp) cyst on the back of my next, painful to the point of not sleeping and difficulty turning my head. it is about the size of a ten cent piece. Anyway it has been causing me pain for two weeks and gotten worse so i went to doctor today and she said it is infected and they cant remove it whilst it is infected as the local anaesethic wont work so she prescribed me Kelfex antibiotics to clear up the infection. she assures me they are safe in pregnancy ( i am 11 weeks) but i am nervous, i have got the script filled but am a bit scared to take them but know that i have to to make the infection go away.
Anyone else had to take them in pregnancy before?
    Thanks in advance
    Kimmy

    Hi KimmyF
Keflex is safe in pregnancy. Also saying that the local anaesthetic won’t work because it is infected sounds very strange to me. I have never heard of this.

Thanks Alan, i think maybe she meant it wouldn't work as well due the infection but not sure.
    Thanks again for your reply

I think it is more the fact that they don't like cutting into an infected area due to the risk of the infection spreading, unless the increased blood flow to the area would make the local wear off quicker, who knows?
