has anyone else suffered from a case of sinusitis during preg and got blood noses? i've been suffering the last few days with sinus infection and today at work got a blood nose that lasted 30 mins.
i haven't had a blood nose since i was a kid!
what are we supposed to do? i googled blood nose + preg and they say they treat sinus infections with penicillin and another antibiotic, however i'm allergic to both! LOL.
I suffered with nose bleeds during pregnancy too. I was suprised how many people it happened too. I was told it had something to do with vasoconstriction and that the blood vessles were so close to the skin which was why they ruptured at times.
After it happened with my first pregnancy I didn't worry when it happened with my second, my third or my fourth.
It became just a part of it for me. Like gagging and sciatica.
During my entire pregnancy i would wake up each morning with very bloody snot (and lots of it) ... for some reason it was always worse in my left nostril
And it seemed worse towards the end of the pregnancy.
My OB said it was to do with hormones ... and he couldn't help but throw in his comment of my being a 1st time older Mum at 40 ... I'm not sure how that comes into the conversation of bloody boogies but he did say it was very common amongst pregnant women of all ages !!
i went to doc as i couldnt stand the pain of my sinuses any longer. basically i have a summer cold and all the safe drugs for preg women i just happen to be allergic to - so i have to 'tough' it out! JOY. 11 days and counting. not impressed.
