Can the day get any worse??

My brother who has major issues has been stressing me out so much to the point that I lost concentration and was in a minor car accident today... I felt intuitively that bubs is ok but I had to be monitored in the hospital and they put bubs on monitors etc, more ultrasounds etc etc which I had been trying to keep to a minimum in the pregnancy..
I lost it in the hospital because i was just so stressed and hospital environments just stress me out so much.
luckily all tests came back ok and ive been discharged but ive got to rest up for 24hrs and monitor myself closely..
anyway, turns out they also found out during the scan i have low lying placenta and have to go back at 34 weeks (4 wks time) for another ultrasound to check if the placenta has moved up.
anyone else been through this low lying placenta thing so late in the pregnancy and still been able to have a vaginal birth??
I really hope it all changes in my favour as ive chosen the birth centre because of my anxiety in hospitals..

Oh no, what a dreadful day! Glad you and bubs are doing well.
My understanding is that most of the time low lying placentas do move well clear of the cervix by the time you reach term, so hopefully it'll be ok.

1 in 20 low lying placentas don't move up. I think I got that from the BellyBelly main site. It has been stuck in my head since 20 weeks!

Oh Tinkerbelle that's really awful news. Glad bubs is OK. I've a low-lying placenta and going back at 32 weeks for a scan, my GP said that about 95% of them move out of the way. The midwives said 3cm to stay in the FBC where I am, and less than 3cm but more than 2.5cm means a vaginal birth is achievable, just need monitoring for bub, plus there may be more bleeding during labour.

the midwives didn't seem too phased about the low-lying placenta, so I reckon I'm just going to let nature do its thing and see what happens.

what a rotten day - I hope that you're able to get a bit of space and time, and that you won't be so stressed out.

as the other ladies have said - what a blessing that your bub is ok! I hope you weren't hurt in the accident, and that your car is ok too.

again, as the other ladies have said, my understanding is that most low lying placentas sort themselves out - I yours does too

how you get a good night's sleep, and a relaxing weekend, and that things improve for you
