    Carpal Tunnel

Is there anything you can do to prevent carpal tunnel? I had it last pg (not severe, but pretty bad) and am not looking forward to the weather warming up and me getting more and more pregnant and swollen!

Any suggestions? Drink more water? Do more walking? No idea really LOL.

Liz i had to wear something on my hands to stop mine from happening. I used to get it really bad at night and just put the things on and it would go away.
The physio gave them to me when i was pg with Alex as i couldn't do anything.

I massage people that have carpal tunnel, through their back and arms down to their hands. I don't know a lot about it myself except for the clients I have seen, i've never suffered it myself but the clients do think that it helps, so maybe give that a go as a prevention?? Just a thought

Michelle - I tried the glove thing last time, didn't help It was the only thing that woke me up at night.. I was lucky - never had to get up to pee while pregnant.. but kept waking up to dead arms!

I''m not sure if carpal tunnel whilst pg is the same as having carpal tunnel in general? Mine was due to swelling, I struggled getting my wedding rings off hehe. Good thing the doc asked me to remove them when he did, or I'd never have got them off! And it went away straight after the birth. Are your clients pg Dee?

I guess it's the swelling I need to prevent more than anything.

I had to take my rings off as well Liz. Mine always felt like pins and needles in both hands but worse in my right one.

Mine that i used for my hands where wrist braces. Is that the same as you used last time ?
They have a metal bit that goes into the palm of your hand.

I have a wrist brace I got from the chemist. It doesn't completely eliminate the carpal tunnel, but it makes it a lil easier to manage. I got ones from the physio too, but the same thing happened. They are uncomfy, make it awkward in the middle of the night, but help a bit.
    hope that helps! Good luck!
