Hawksey - I see your baby girl was born, happy and healthy I am hoping. Did her cyst ever disappear?
We are in the same situation. I can't say that I am really worried, but it would not be normal for me not to be a bit concerned and do my own research.
At our 18 week scan, it showed our baby boy to have a choroid plexus cyst on the brain measuring 5 x 4mm.
At my Nuchal scan, my background risk was as follows (Age 32)
Trisomy 21 - 1 in 426
Trisomy 18, 13 - 1 in 749
After having the nuchal translucency my risk has been summarised as low risk:
Trisomy 21 - 1 in 4727
Trisomy 18, 13 - 1 in 14951
Surely these are good results and my baby boy will be fine.
My gyno does not seem at all concerned, but wondered if I should push him for a follow up u/s to ensure the cyst has dissappeared.
I am now 22 weeks pregnant and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think about this.
Most research I have done, suggests there is no need for concern and bubs will be born fine and healthy. But then there is some literature I have read regarding AD/HD being diagnosed later in life. I am hoping this is very false information.
This is will be our 2nd child and my first son was born healthy.
My little girl, Adeline is healthy and happy, born a healthy 8 pound 2 via caesar (because of my high blood pressure). The rest of my pregnancy went well, apart from the worries of the cyst. My ob dismissed it as normal and nothing to even consider. He said it not even a marker for trisomy. I didnt even have another scan (though I was tempted to ask for one many times!)
I am sure that you will be the same, especially given that all your other results are great. You are the same age as me- which automatically puts our risk factors up purely on age.
I hope you can rest easily and enjoy your pregnancy. Lots of hugs
Mary
Thanks darl, so glad your precious girl made it into your arms. Are they going to do any scans on her head now she is born to ensure the cyst has gone?
Yes I feel reasonably at ease with this, I have read so much and mostly positive and like you said my results were fantastic - so that has to say something.
