Hi and welcome to BB Mel
What you have explained is Battledore Insersion, thi sis where the umbilical cord is attached to the edge of the placenta. Unless the attachment is not strong this type of insertion does not cause any problems.

Hi, i had my 19 weeks scan today and found the cord is attached to the placenta at the side rather then in the middle and the baby is measuring 11 days behind. i have to go back for another scan in 4 weeks to check her growth.
ive never heard of this cord thing before and am so confused and upset and worried. is this dangerous?
any advice please??
