Had such a scare tonight! (Might be TMI)

I noticed yesturday that I had a little brown discharge and thought I would keep an eye on it, and I had the same today and called my OB, and their midwife told me to come in to check the baby. I was so worried.

His partner checked me via ultrasound (as he does volunteer work in Nepal and happened to be there until after easter), he told me heart was good and baby was kicking away but to rest for the next 5 days and keep an eye out for any pain, cramping or red bleeding. I told him I was getting twinges but nothing severe, and that is still happening but he didnt seem too concerned.

He said it is common at 12 weeks for there to be some bleeding as the Placenta takes over.. but talk about freaking me out!

I'm so relieved the baby is ok, but still a bit worried so will be definatley resting to avoid any further issues.

Has anyone else had anything like this? I'll also be telling work I wont be doing any lifting anymore just to be on the safe side.

I had some brown dishcharge at around 8 weeks i think,my dr thought it was from a corpus something ( i know that is wrong name lol) that formed from the egg. I didn't have any pain though.

Glad to hear your bub's heart beat is going strong try not to worry so much and put your feet up over easter and rest. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy xxx

i started bleeding red blood at 12wks 5 days so just shy of 13 weeks but i had no cramping and i had an ultrasound and there was a heartbeat still with baby kicking and moving around
That baby is now 4 months old!

Remember your cervix is tender due to more blood flow so you do have chances of bleeding

i had intercourse the night before which Dr thinks is what caused my bleeding

i know how heartbreaking it can be, but with a strong heartbeat stay strong im sure everythings going to be alright

Thanks so much guys I made sure I got lots of sleep last night, 9 hours.. and I feel a bit better. I'm still getting the twinges, but I remembered last month around when my period would have been due I had the same bloating and twinges so it might be related to that, as again this week was when my period would have been due. I still have a little of the discharge but nothing has really changed so I'll let it go for now seeing as bubs was ok in the ultrasound.

I am glad they did the scan, to put my mind at ease over the easter break, I was just so worried. Its good to hear that it should all be ok! Yes mine was kicking and the heart beat was still strong and not distressed. Just mummy was!

Thanks again guys. So nervous at things being my first.

its very natural/normal to being extremely cautous with your first but it doesnt always stop the worrry from each and every other pregnancy as each pregnancy is different and brings different worries..

e.g: my very first preg bleeding ended in a miscarriage, second preg nothing happy healthy baby, 3rd pregnancy bleeding didnt lead to a miscarriage but a happy healthy bubba!

Dont feel silly or anything for being concerned as we have all been through it

again im glad bub was still kicking strong they make us worried before they even arrive!

I thought the discharge was gone as didn't seem to have any yesturday, but the twinges and stuff were still there. Today, I have no pain or twingers, but when I wiped I had a pinky brown discharge. I've been resting alot, and sleeping heaps so I'm not sure whats going on. I guess becuase I have no pain or cramping and it's not bright red I'll keep an eye on it but its pretty distressing

Hi Lolpigs, I had a brown bleed at 7wks and around 11wks and a bright red bleed at 13wks with my DD and thought I was going to loose her each time. Before every bleed we had gone to Melbourne or some other place for the day where I had done a lot of walking around with very little rest, but no cause was ever found for the bleeds. At my 12wk scan the sonographer said that my placenta was low lying, but after every bleed I'd have a scan that showed no sign of a bleed at all.
I was on semi-permanent couch rest for most of the pregnancy, first because of the bleeds, and then because I had an irritable uterus as well which caused cramping any time I left the house or did any kind of exercise - even walking out to the backyard caused cramping.
My DD is now 4 weeks old, so there is hope!
Best thing to do until you see your OB again would be to stick to bed or couch rest as much as possible, take breaks from whatever you are doing every 5-10 minutes and make sure you sit down and put your feet up.
Good luck and sending lots of Sticky Vibes!

thank you,I just gave the maternity ward a call. The midwife told me it sounds ok that doesn't sound like miscarriage because I have no cramping, and its only about 1/2 teaspoon of brown discharge.

Midwife said I would be cramping badly and or bleeding lots of red blood if I was miscarrying and she doesn't think so from the sound of it. Also being 14weeks she said I was over the more dangerous period. She did say she would be calling my OB, as she had another patient of his in the ward, so would tell him I called and what happened so that is a relief. I guess he will call if he is concerned.

I see him next Friday.. gees I don't think I've worried so much ever Guess I will just take it easy today.

My mother told me to stop panicking Its so hard not to be worried though I feel stupid for worrying mostly when everyone around me seems to always be telling me not to worry.

I had similar problems with dd1, if I bent lifted or walked to much i would bleed. If you are worried call the nurses on call or go to the hospital for reassurance.

They aren't the ones going through its hard for them to understand what it's like. Glad your ob was on duty when you called.

Thanks guys Yes I had about a teaspoon or so on Sunday and it had stopped by Monday. I'm seeing my OB Friday so hoping to get some reassurance and another look at bubs hopefully it was just something that happened during implantation that hadn't cleared yet, but it didn't escalate into anything, no cramps nothing.

    Fingers crossed and thanks again
