    Hi
Sorry to hear of the loss of your son. I lost my son in November last year and my ob thinks it was due to IC. I am 11 weeks pg now and will be having a stitch placed at 14 weeks. Monitoring was mentioned but my ob did not recommend it in my situation due to how fast my cervix changed. I had my 19 week u/s 13 days before I went into labour and my cervix was closed and over 3.5cm long. Nothing to indicate a problem. A visit with my ob 5 days before his birth also showed no problems. Luke was my first child.
I am just worried if I have the scans, everything could be fine and within a couple of days it could change before the next scan.
It is for this reason that monitoring is not an option in my situation.

Congratulations on your new pg and good luck with whatever option you choose. There are some small risks associated with the stitch but to me my risk by not having it is greater and that is why I am happy to follow my ob's advice. Sorry I haven't been much help - hopefully others might have experiences with the monitoring option.

Thank you so much Jo, I am sorry Luke couldn't make it, I wish you all the best for this pregnancy.
