Unhappy Funny Sensation inside Vagina - could this have anything to do with Cervix??

    Hi there All

OK so I'm freaking a little - I've had this odd full feeling just inside my vagina for the last 2 days - the only way I can explain it, it feels like a tampon that hasn't been pushed up far enough - sorry for the TMI but there really is not other way to explain it.

I had heaps of ligament stretching lately - but that's nothing new - I've pretty much had this from the beginning - but what I'm wondering and worrying about is could this feeling be my cevix dilating?? I'm so scared that it is - but at this time of night I can't really go anywhere to find out.

So if it was that - would it be something that I would feel?? or is this just some odd pain that is just part of being pregnant - i really hope so.

Anyway - any advice would be fantastic - I'm petrified

    thanks

    Hi DiannaQ,

I also experienced a weird sensation kind of how you described with my last pregnancy, it was apparently my cervix down low (which is normal in pg I think?). I could actually sometimes nearly touch it just when sitting on the toilet!! (sorry tmi! )

Anyway I would get checked just in case, but as long as you have no bleeding or fluid, or more cramping than usual, I'm sure everything is fine (even with bleeding everything can be fine anyway...I should know...had bleeding with both boys throughout pg!)

I know how scary it can be when we don't know what's going on. And remember you can always go to emergency dept if really really worried, although you may have a bit of a wait, and they won't always do a scan, but they could probably do an internal for you I'd say. Best of luck and fingers crossed you have a happy & healthy remainder of your pg.

    Hi Dianna
Try not to worry hun I’m sure that it is not your cervix dilating. It would be extremely unusual for you to be able to feel your cervix dilating. What you are feeling is probably your labia and other tissue swelling due to the increase in your blood supply. Another possibility is as water_lilly suggests, your cervix moving which is normal. However, without being able to check you out I cannot be 100% sure so if you are still concerned it is worth seeing your midwife/ob

Thanks so much WaterLily and Alan - I'm off to see the doctor this morning - I haven't really slept so figured better go get it checked out - I hope you are both right and that I have spent a night worrying for no reason - wish me luck - I'll come back to update when I get some results

    thanks again

    Hi Dianna,

I'd be interested to know how you go. I have a similar feeling. Saw my doc but he didn't look just tested me for uti and prescribed antibiotics.

Hi Diana. I had something quite similar to this when I was preg with dd, and was CONVINCED without a doubt that it was my cervix opening. Anyway, I lived with it for a couple of days before taking myself off to the ob. Turned out I had a rather nasty thrush infection (which I knew about), but had no idea it could cause pain or discomfort other than the usual itching. My gp had dismissed my concerns, while the OB was great. He pretty much said that GPs have no idea about these things because they dont see it often enough. Anyway....took two courses of Canestan pessaries, and totally fixed the problem. All that stress for nothing.

    Hi Dianna,

Just wanted to let you know mine wasn't a uti but a varicose vein!
