I started thyroxine at about same point in my pregnancy with DD over 4 years ago now. I am still on it will be forever but I have zero issues apart from remembering to take the tablets. DD fine and DS is nearly two now. I have Hashimotos which is where you produce antibodies that destroy thyroid -is a very common cause of hypothyroidism.
I have no thyroid function without tablets. Two other serious meds too. When GP told his computer I was pregnant it lit up like a Xmas tree about meds that shouldn't be used in pregnancy.
My youngest daughter was conceived and baked with same meds in my body and she is perfection.
The risks of under active thyroid are worse than the meds.
I had my thyroid removed years ago and have been on thyroxine HRT ever since, including through 2 pregnancies. So long as you get your levels monitored regularly - your required doseage may change as the pregnancy progresses - everything should be fine.
Thanks girls, got my script filled today & start taking them tomorrow!! There's a family. History of thyroid dysfunction but I can't ask anyone as its still a secret that I'm pregnant
Yes, I found out I had Hashimoto's just before I got pregnant. Not enough to medicate for if I wasn't TTC though so I was put on a very low dose of Thyroxine. When I got pregnant I got tested again straight away though and had to increase my dose. I think as long as you get your levels monitored regularly everything should be fine
