    I have an entourage

I am wondering if this is normal or just a bit crazy...

When I stop and consider it, well it just seems to be bordering on the ridiculous. But i am now under the care of/or have been recommended to see in the near future...

My Doctor, who is a GP specialising in antenatal care.

An Obstetrician, because of insulin dependant GD and its effect on me.

A Paediatrition also because of the GD and the effect on baby.

A Diabetes educator to monitor how I am managing the GD and insulin.

A Dietician to help me with low GI foods for GD.

An Opthamologist, GD can damage the retina.

A Chiropractor, this is my choice as I had serious back injury a while ago.

A Midwife to do regular BP checks and to do weekly CTG from 32 weeks on.

And I am having monthly serial growth scans at the radiology dept.

Are they just all going " well she's got private cover, lets milk the company for all we can" or is all this "help" necessary?

I have never had anyone mention to me that I should be seeing a paed or an opthamologist.
I am currently seeing an Endocrinologist - to control my GD/adjust insulin dosage
diabetes educator - probably 3 more appts before bub is born because I am seeing the endo, and I have my fortnightly OB/Midwife appt. They all keep each other in the loop about my results etc and I feel that I am having more than enough monitoring. I find the DE and the endo appts cross over a bit and the DE is a bit of a waste so they have reduced the number of those appts. I have been told I might get 2 more scans, but will at least have one more.
I am going through the public system and none of this is costing me anything.

But what about your hair and make-up?! You can't have an entourage without them!

But seriously, yes, I think people with private hearth insurance are somewhat "over serviced". I have PHI and I know I was. But then on the other hand, how much service is too much? You seem as if you are fully informed of the risks associated with your conditions and so it's up to you (and your DH) to decide what level of care you want under the circumstances. You can always decline the extra care, if that's what you want to do, considering your situation.

All the very best for the rest of your pregnancy and beyond from me

    Myson I completely understand!!

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in June last year just before TTC.
I had an appointment with a diabetes educator and in that time became pregnant and was 7 weeks when I first saw them. They hit the roof because my diabetes wasn't under control and put me straight on insulin. I have to see the following:

    -My GP
    -Obstetrician
    -Diabetes Educator (monthly)
    -Midwife (fortnightly)
-Endocrinologist (monthly) who is still trying to determine if I have type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

I have seen a dietician, and need to see a podiatrist and have my eyes tested too. I also have to have regular ultrasounds, how often will be determined by my obstetrician when I see him late this month. I have to fax my BSL through twice a week to have my insulin adjusted. And what tops it off for me is that alot of those appointments involve a 6 hour round trip and never fall on the same day every month!!!!
So yes....I too have an entourage but would also like to add a housekeeper to my list because with all those appointments I'm never here to clean house!
I am in the public system and so far, these haven't cost me anything.
I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
