Unhappy Pinched nerve in my lower back/top of bottom. Would a chiro help?

I have had this reoccuring pinched nerve that I am sure started with poor posture when sitting but since falling pregnant it has gotten worse, now that I am 20 weeks and chasing a now mobile 14 month old it is getting worse again.

It is right down at the base of my spine but across a few centermetres to the right, it is kind of at the top of my bum . When I do alot of bending over or get up from sitting it pinches, usually once I am up and straight it goes away but lately it has been staying for 5 minutes or so.

I have just finished my housework and am in pain .

I went to the doctor, she wasn't very helpful, she told me to practice safe bending/lifting. I do try but as mentioned above with a 20 week pregnant belly and a toddler you do what you can.

Would a chiro or an other specialist be able to help? I have never seeked help from these kind of specialists before so I have no idea.

    Thankyou for any advise.

Yep! I see a chiro in Narre Warren and he is excellent. Very gentle and good with PG women!

Hang on and I'll dig his details up for you!

    You could try an Osteopath.

Hope you get some relief soon.

Or a physio cos it might turn into SPD later on down the track. I can barely walk now and I still have months to go

    PM'd you DD

I wouldn't see anyone else. When he retires I think I'll cry

I saw a physio for SPD and this guy did more for it than what the physio did.

Thankyou for the PM Sam, my next question would have been any recommendations, I wouldn't know who to see especially while pregnant so you have saved me alot of trouble .

I can sympathise with pain down that end as my SPD has not completely gone since I had DS and is only getting more painful as time goes on in preg!!

Ring up and ask if they are trained in care of pregnant woman.

Chances are it is a lumbar disc bulge given the symptoms and aggravating factors you've described. I'm a physio so naturally I would recommend you see a physiotherapist, preferably one with good training in spinal care. When you are pregnant, you can get all sorts of problems you don't get when not pregnant - but you can also get all the same things everyone else does! Regardless of their profession, I would recommend someone with postgraduate McKenzie training - this can be undertaken by physios, osteos, chiros and dr's.

If you want some recommendations please PM me, I've got a few on a list here!

I know the pain you speak of, mine gets really bad if I lay on my back to and just at night, I also suffer from spd so by the end of the day I'm in agony with simple things like getting up, rolling over and walking

Let me know how the physio goes if you try it
