I was very similar to you, i started to measure quite a bit more each week, and at one point i was 8 weeks ahead! I had an ultrasound so they could see if i had excessive fluid and was diagnosed with polyhydraminos and they estimated that my baby was a fair bit bigger than average as well. I stressed out waiting for my ultrasound and waiting to find out why i was so far ahead, and did some googling which was less than helpful...
In the end, everything was fine, i just ended up ginormous When my waters broke there didn't seem to be all that much more there, but the baby was huge!
Its possible that you have a medium sized baby with lots of fluid rather than a super big baby, also there are heaps of other reasons for measuring ahead as it is so dependant on the person measuring, it could even just be the baby is in a different position at the moment
I had this with my first and looks like I'll have it this time too. I was measuring 9 weeks ahead, mainly fluid. Had heaps of ultrasounds, GD tests (excess fluid is a sign of GD) and was told big baby and excess fluid, nothing was wrong, would have to wait it out. My waters broke spontaneously at 36 weeks and boy oh boy, did I have some fluid! I also had an 8lb 2oz baby, almost 4 weeks early! This time I was already measuring 1.5 weeks ahead at 12 weeks and honestl, at almost 19 weeks I am enormous! Will see what is happening at 20 weeks I guess!!
My MOH has this, she has an OB appt this arvo, and they have recommended for her to have amniotic fluid drained as she has an extremely excessive amount. In her first pregnancy she had the same, her DS was born 8 weeks early (around 5.5 pds), and the condition is a bit worse this time. There are varying degrees of how serious it is, so your OB/Health Professional should be able to give you more info. She also looks like she is ready to pop, but she's not due until Feb.
I'd say you'll be closely monitored to make sure everything is going ok, good luck, and relax as much as possible!
Hi there
I am the poster girl for polyhydramious. I had it so severly last year when pregnant with my DS that I was hospitalised and had 4 amnio fluid reductions (massive needle and tube sucking fluid away) and over 15 ltrs of fluid removed. They still have no idea why it happened but I was bigger than a woman pregnant with triplets who was also on bed rest!! I am pregnant again and so far so good we dont have the same issue this time around. There are many different degrees of severity and most dont require hospitalisation just close monitoring. Trust the doctors and sonographers as they will tell u if things are going wrong and u need help.
Oh and when I went into pre term labor and had to have a csect the doctors got drenched when they broke my waters and the waters splashed on the floor like someone kicked over a bucket of water (and what did I do when I heard that? I laughed so much they told me to hold still lol)
I had this too although my situation was a bit different because it wasn't diagnosed until I went over 40 weeks and started being monitored via u/s. It wasn't picked up at the 20 week scan probably cause it wasn't there then.
DS was born at 41+4 after going into labour naturally. He was 8 pound 7 ounces. I did have a lot of fluid and will never forget the initial relief when they broke my waters.
I don't think my case was severe, I was large, tight and uncomfortable but it was Feb when the Vic bushfires happened. Everyone was hot.
I don't want to freak you out but I suggest you talk to your care provider about the risk of PPH. I had a fast, heavy bleed right after ds was born and they told me later the polyhydramnios was to blame. The uterus is overstretched and can't contract quick enough when the placenta detached. At least, that's what they told me.
i had this but it was a complication from the GD! my ob was concerned when i was around 33 weeks as my belly was rather tight but i also had other issues going on.
I had this with DD2 and was on watch from 28wks and told to pack my bags as apparently polyhydro babies can make an earlyu entrance, I was massivly huge the doctor said i was carrying the same as what a twin pregnancy would be carrying bellywise.
I was on weekly ultrasounds from 30 weeks.
We made it to 36 weeks and my daughter was born weighing in at 7lb 10oz
