    Really bad fluid retention

    Hi Ladies,

I've had a fair bit of fluid retention throughout my twin pregnancy in my feet and fingers. Over a month ago had threatened labour and was in hosp for a week and fluid retention went down considerably. A couple weeks after being home it started coming back and now as my belly has grown much bigger - to the point it adds pressure on my lap because it sits on my lap now have noticed that fluid retention has now spread from feet / ankles all the way up my legs. I cant lie down when sleep and now have to sleep sitting up with pillows propped behind back, so find when get up fluid bunches up as well in my inner thighs and feel like have two massive balls there and cant close my legs properly when walk. The fluid retention in legs feels gross - skin really tight and hurts to bend legs cause of fluid and get undie / panties / shoe marks really prominently.

Has this happened to anyone and did they find any ways to get relief. Massage seems to temporarily relieve but as soon as am on feet or sitting in a chair they just swell up. My shoes and rings dont fit me at all and am hoping once pregnancy is over that it all drains away.

i had it really bad in my legs/ankes/feet. I found ice packs helped a little. More with comfort tho. Raising the end of the bed with a couple books or a blanket under the mattress will help aswell. U need to keep your feet atleast above your hips. I know its a pain, and it hurts and it uncomfortable. Not long to go now! u have carried these twins soooo long! welldone!

Hi, I have it quite bad at the moment too. I have super fat feet, no ankles, and the swelling extends up to my knees. I am only comfortable when I am lying on the couch with pillows under my feet. Sorry I dont actually have any advice but am wishing you well

Thanks hollye and blondedoctor. I guess am just going to have to be patient! Only 2 more wks I guess. I is just really annoying though esp cause can hardly walk and sitting with my feet up doesnt make a difference because of the size of my belly which sits on my lap.
