are you using a pillow between your knees - that helped me heaps.

yep im using a nice firm pillow which does help, but i can't turn over (or under) in bed without searing pain, so spend the whole night (well 5 hours!!) on my leftside which when i get up is so painful i can't walk straight away, have to give myself 5 or so mins just be able to support my weight when i stand.....not fun with a full bladder bursting to get out!
ahhhh yes, Negrita, I remember that feeling. It's horrible![]()
can someone tell me if this is the begining of SPD. I have pain almost right down my bikini line on both sides. I had SPD with DD but a) i cant remember how it started and b) im too scared to move incase it is SPD and i make it worse!
Is there anything i can do to stop it getting as bad as last time? on top of the sciatica and painful left hip and upper back pain....i just dont want to deal with SPD for another 10 weeks aswell!! OH the joys of pregnancy![]()
not sure beckoes, hopefully someone will be able to help.
negs when i roll i have one hand support and kinda push my belly over ad the other supporting the hip that ive been laying on ITMS???? looks completely unco but it seems to help me
thats how mine started just pain down my bikini line. it now radiates to my groin and pelvis and i also have a really really sore tailbone area....i hope its not the case or you hun!!
yeah even with support the pain is excruciatingit literally feels like my pelvis is being dislocated from the rest of my body and i actually cry out in pain

Negrita. I wore the src preg shorts and found they helped alot. I had a belly belt that just made it worse so got rid of it. I now wear the src recovery shorts.
With lying in bed. I worked out i'd sleep on one side for 45-90 min, wake up, go to loo. Sleep on other side for same. Wake up, loo. Sleep on back for same. Repeat throughout the night. I had a bunch of pillows to help position myself.
I still find it difficult to roll over or under. Sometimes i have to shove one hip over with my hand so i'm not using the groin muscles to do it. I'm also using arnica cream on hips, inner thighs and bikini. Nice!
The whole thing sucks. Sometimes all you can do us ice, take a panadeine and count down another day.
OH, great! i got out of bed and forgot aboutit till i got out left leg first and nearly fell on the floor! 'legs together'. what are these shorts and belts your talking about?? where do you get them from? what do they do....hold it all together!!
Wish this thread had been around when i had this with DD!! would have made life easier!
thanks for the feedback on the shorts tashy- i think i really need them as the belt is great during the day but come night time there is no way i could sleep with it on
my bed looks like pillow palace atm!! i've got a total of 8 pillows positioned around me as well as the ones i use between my legs etc!
everyone, haven't been in here before. Apparently I have SPD
Was sore when pregnant but not too bad if I was careful so I didn't think it was bad enough to be SPD from what I've heard from others and how bad it can get. I was going to the chiro too which I found helped me.
But after the birth, OUCH! It is much worse now. After a very active 10hr labour I didn't expect I'd then have to get a wheelchair to get to the maternity ward. I could hardly walk my pubic bone was just so so sore. The physio came and did her routine check the next day and told me I have SPD and also muscle separation in my stomach (6cms) which is not helping the situation either. It's not as bad as just after the birth but still pretty sore all the time. Sore just to touch and sore to walk at the front and also my tailbone too.
Just wondering when I can expect it to get better?? I didn't expect this after I'd had her! Hoping it doesn't take too long to get better.
TIA guys.
I first got SPD after the birth of my first child, and it came back during subsequent pregnancies. The post birth pain after my first lasted around 5 or 6 weeks, getting better little by little. I couldn't stand for any length of time for the first month. I wish I had gone to see a chiro for some proper support as I was healing though as I suspect my 3rd and 4th pregnancies would have been much easier if I had. Hope you feel lots better soon xx
Mine lasted for 18 months after my first birth so it doesn't always just 'go away on its own'. It certainly didn't for me first time around.
Thanks guys.
It's been a lot better the last week and went back to the physio who said I don't need to go back so hopefully it just keeps getting better and quickly!
Any suggestions for positions that are conducive to pain-free sex? My wife gets quite severe iliac pain during her pregnancies, and it is making sex very uncomfortable for her.
Well, first post here and all I can say is 'ooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww'!!! Thanks for all the wonderful input and tips already given, I've gained a lot already. I'm not nearly as debilitated as several of you have described but I've gone from a bit achy to the pain worsening rapidly over the past few days. I'm kinda scared of how it might progress over he next 10ish weeks I have left. We're going on holiday in 2 weeks and staying in a unit that's up 3 flights of stairs -silly, silly me I know, but I booked it in Feb and my PG with DD I had no pain at all so didn't see this coming. Really hoping I'll be able to make it to the beach and back with DD. I've been HANGING for this holiday.
I also have suspected GD - positive on first-round test, longer test next week. Because of this, and for the sake of general health and being fit enough to survive labour, I really want to exercise, but even a gentle walk around the block today has left me hobbling. Can someone tell me if there's any exercise I can do without upsetting my pelvis?
How many of you girls continuedd to have SPD after bubs was born? I am still getting pain, 5 1/2mths later! Nowhere near the pain I was getting in later pg, but I still get shooting pains in my pubis , and turning in bed is still sometimes painful and I get the grinding back/pelvis bones/ligaments.
I still ahven't been to the physio or chiro (or anyone actually!) I'm waiting on our tax....another few weeks til we can afford to do anything unfortunately, then it will be a toss up over going to the dentist, or the chiro/physio. Gee, decisions!
