Fibroids - but wait! There's more

    Hi everyone!

I'm 14 weeks with my first bub and have two fibroids - one isn't an issue, but the other is 4cm and sitting right where the baby's head needs to go before birth. My Ob said that if the fibroid doesn't move, it will have to be a c-section, which I'm fine with....but!!! I have scar tissue in my lower back which will prevent me from having a local anaesethic (and probably an epidural for natual). My Ob had a minor freak out about this - lots of questions from him, so I'm wondering, should I be worried?? He said that a general might be what's needed but he said I'll need to talk to an anethetist before the big event. Looks like I might be in for a rough ride. Anyone have anything similar??

Its very possible that it wll move out of the way on its own. I had one (3.6cm) detected at my 12 weeks scan when I was pg with DS, that was in a similar position. My OB said he'd do a scan at 36 weeks to see where it was, but that he'd more than liekly go for a trial of labour anyway.
They can change size while you are pg too. Im not sure what happened to mine it couldnt be found at all on my 36week scan so all went ahead fine.

    Hey Corelly

Just a quick message to say that pregnancy seems to reduce the chance of fibroids developing, and each successive pregnancy lowers this chance. For existing fibroids, it is possible for them to shrink during pregnancy, but it depends on where they are and what type of fibroid. As long as your Ob keeps an eye on it, you'll know what's going on well before your birth. Herbal medicines can also be wonderful for shrinking fibroids, but you need to be a little bit careful during pregnancy.

My fingers are crossed for a shrinking and disappearing fibroid for you!
