Viral infection in my mouth and throat

Last week around thursday I notivced my tongue becoming sore, then I noticed some little pimple looking spots appear, I thought it was just some ulcers and that it woul just go away in a few days.

Well its over a week later and to the point its painful to drink water so I went to the dr's and he said it was a viral infection and that the little spots were blisters and it has gone down my throat and my glans are up.

There is nothing they can do about it other than I have to use an antiseptic mouth wash till it goes away and if its still here in a week I have to go back and they will look into it more.

He said it is because I have let myself become run down and my iron levels are low so I also have to take a multi vitamin ( I am taking Elevit ) and and iron suppliment each day from now on.

Has anyone else had anything like this its really unpleasant and I am missing my orange juice and tomatoes LOL I will have to have a feast once all healed hahahaha

My DD had this when she was 18 months old.
OMG I will never forget it, it was HORRENDOUS. She didn't eat for 10 days and ended up being hospitalised. It was sooo awful and she was so miserable.
I wouldnt' wish it on my worst enemy
I hope you're feeling better soon.

Thankyou Michelle I needed that especially with Jeff being away.

Flea your poor little girl how awful for her, I can see how it could have been that bad though, I have had alot of trouble eating as everything obviously touches the blisters and therefore agrivates them the Dr was a little concearned that i had not been eating very much so I have to take vitamins etc now to try and get on top of it, I hope it gets better soon and not worse it seems every morning I am waking up with more, I am using an antibacterial mouth wash calles Savicol and that seems to be helping somewhat so hopefully it will kick its butt outa town LOL.

Thanks agiain girls I really should be in bed I promised Jeff I would go to bed really early tonight but I find it so hard to settle in when he is away for the first week the second weeek not so bad the third easy breezy then it starts all over agian hehehe hope I get use to it soon or I am going to be one sleep deprived mumma.

Hello, my DD had this about 12 months ago, her whole mouth, lips, tongue, gums, everything ulcerated. Fortunately I have a dietician friend who was able to advise me as she stopped eating for several days (big fright). She recommended making up a fortified protein drink by adding skim milk powder to regular milk, which you can then use to blend mashed potatoes & pumpkin, scrambled eggs, etc, which are soft and bland. You can add it to canned chicken soup etc as well.

Just as an aside, in DD's case we had four different drs tell us it was 4 different things until the viral pathology came back two weeks later and the only thing active in her system was chicken pox virus (!)

Amy, I hope you are feeling better soon and get on top of this - rest up and drink plenty of fluids and let your friends run around after you when you can!
