    Whooping cough during pregnancy?

    Hi everyone.

    Just have a quick question.

Hubby has just gotten back from the doctors today with his test results from last week (he's been sick on and off for a while now) and has just diagnosed with whooping cough.
It's also looking like DS has it as well (even though his immunisations are up to date) and it's likely that I have it as well as my own cough is very similar.

So my question is: What affect will whooping cough have on me and bub?

I'm only 17wks, so as far as I know from when my step-sister's older half-sister (confusing, I know) had it in mid pregnancy in late 2008/early 2009 17wks is still not generally out of the danger period for some things to go wrong.
She had to undergo so many tests and an amnio because it may have caused her son some major heart damage - thankfully he was perfectly healthy.

I'm just worried and confused, and googling doesn't get me anywhere (I know I shouldn't do it, but I just couldn't help myself when hubby told me he had it).

Sorry to hear you're all unwell

I had whooping cough with DD2 when I was 28 weeks pregnant. Both me & DD2 were fine and were told there was no reason to worry too as DD2 was in the best place she could be; inside me. My other children also got it and they are all fully immunised against it. My only problem that I had was burst blood vessels in my eye and stress on my pelvic floor from all the coughing.

    Thanks Lisa,

Makes feel a whole heap better knowing that bub is going to be ok. Just need to finish the antibiotics now and hopefully everything will be better.
