I've been having one or two a day for the last couple of weeks, but today it's been constant, this feeling like I'm light-headed. At it's peak, I get a bit wobbly on my feet and feel like I'm going to fall over.
Could it be low haemoglobin again? I'm eating well but it's quite warm weather-wise...
Sushee i have this happen all the time, but ive never thought to ask a dcotor about it because i can never quite explain what's happening... Do you feel like you're going to pass out or something? I've never 'passed out / fainted, so i assume this is basically as close to i get to it or something but i never bring it up with the doc as im clueless for description.
ETA - And does the light-headedness sort of come with dizziness (vertigo??) and a bit of nausea?
Tracey I suffered from low BP when pg, but I'm definitely not pg atm. I used to get dizzy spells but this is worse than anything I've ever had. Does it sound like a symptom of low bp?
SP I was thinking of going to see my Dr anyway, but like ashnant feel like I can't describe what's happening. It does feel like vertigo (which I suffer from, where if I'm at a height, I feel like the ground is rushing up at me) but this is more like someone has spin me around for ages and then stopped me suddenly IYKWIM.
Sushee I've been having light headedness & fainting for a few months now on/off. I have low BP again, I also have high cholesterol which is strange because I am serious about nutrition and diet.
Recently I found I have low adrenal function, something I had when I was younger. Its definately worth seeing a health professional. I had blood tests which didn't reveal much and they found my BP was averaging around 90/60 over 2 weeks. I spoke with my specialist for the girls who is an allergy specialist but who also specialised in "well being" and he is sending me for more tests for adrenal function & I am altering my diet accordingly as well.
I know this is a bit of a diversion from the original thread question but with regards to cholesterol, I am a big believer that this has more to do with individual body metabolism and genetics than diet.
I have a husband who is a very healthy marathon runner and we have to watch his cholesterol - I have him on a supplement to clean the blood vessels.
I have a mother, who is very large, does no exercise, eats junk and has no cholesterol at all.
I am sure diet plays a role, but a lesser role than what was first thought when the idea was put forward. Some people can eat junk and their body uses the cholesterol and others people eat healthy but because their body uses less cholesterol, they have higher readings.
Our body actually makes and uses cholesterol for some functions such as building cell membranes, makeing hormones, producing vitamin D and bile acids which digest fat.
So we need it. it is a good thing. But like most things in life.....too much of a good thing can be bad for us!!
My bp has never been more than 110/60, so that's a possibility. The day I posted this, I flaked out at 9pm, DH went to brush his teeth and came out to see me fast asleep. I then slept for 13 straight hours (which I never do), I even slept through Charlie waking, crying, jumping all over me. The next day I felt better but still get the occasional headspin. I've got the day off on Wednesday so will see my Gp. Thanks Tracey, Christy, SP and ashnant.
Me too! I have been having headpins/light headedness for about 6-8 weeks also. My DH is in the medical field and checked my BP the day after boxing day as i had passed out in the early hours when i got up tp go to the loo and it was really low for me. He checked it over the next few days and it slowly rose, i felt off for a good 3-4 days after fainting. Anyway went to my GP who has ordered a full bloods work up, when he did my BP it was normal for me (still low in comparison to the norm but normal for me). He suggested i was physically exhausted from the xmas lead up etc and it had taken its toll, which is possible i suppose, so we will wait and see wha the blood results have to say.
I hope you are all on your way to solving your headspins.
I was thinking sleep deprivation?? I had something like this and what felt like vertigo, i would feel very dizzy/spinning room and have to hold on to something. The Dr said it was a symptom of sleep deprivation, and for me it was, once i started getting more sleep/rest it stopped.
I am interested in your Dr's suggestions.......I too get the headspins. I am pretty sure it is low bp to be hoenst, for me, but keen to see what your Dr says. And that you are OK?
I've just come back from (finally) seeing my Dr and the first thing he said is that he's had 3 other patients this week with the same symptoms, ie feeling like the room is tilting (as compared to spinnning round), nausea, light-headedness etc. He believes I have a viral infection of the inner ear. If it doesn't resolve itself within 6-8 weeks from the onset of symptoms, I apparently need to go back and see him. But he's not too fussed about it.
He reckons whenever I feel light headed, to cough hard, as that will force blood into the affected area of my ear.

me too, BG! I got one while driving to work yesterday amd nearly ran off the road! DH almost died of a heartattack! I am really peeved it's just 'oh you have to wait to out' - 6 weeks no less!
So Perth people if you see a woman coughing madly in her car somewhere between Canning Vale and the city, that'll be me.
i get headspins fairly often - sometimes it's the room spinning, sometimes it's like you've described with the room just being off-kilter a little - am thinking i might try the coughing thing to see if that fixes it at all!
Sushee, I had a virus when in my first trimester with Tom that gave me the worst vertigo. It was so bad I vomitted everytime I moved my head (although I did have ms too). It sounds similar to what you are describing (but worse). I took stemitil for it and it did help with both the dizziness and the nausea, so maybe that would be worth a try for you?
The Dr gave me a script for Stemzine (the same thing?) but I haven't filled it yet. He reckoned it might help for short periods of time, so I will take it when I am working. Mel how long did the symptoms last for you?
hi sushee,
i had the same thing, i went to the chiropractor and he said everything in my neck was out so he adjusted me. I felt so much better, now i see him every three weeks just to align me. Don't know if this helps.
