DD has a rash - help please?

I dont know if the two are related, but DD had vomiting and runny poos last night, we were up most of the night and so am home with her today.

SHe doesnt have a fever or a sore throat. But she is now developing a rash on her calf muscles and upper arms. It is not blistery like chicken pox, its not really a colour at all, just little lumps and very itchy.

Its only just come up in the last half an hour, google isnt helping - short of calling the doctor to do a housecall (not een sure if they do) has anyone got any ideas?

It might be a viral rash, but I'd have it checked out jic.
I think viral rashes usually start on the torso.
Could it be heat or sweat rash?

she hasnt been overheated, so i dont think its that.

its really weird, its not red lumps like measles its just like lumpy spots on her skin - red all around because its itchy

are the spots raised, pale and have red edges?

I am just looking at my book "when your child is ill". It has graphs of symptoms and you follow a range of questions to get a possible diagnosis.

Hmmm, most bacterial/viral rashes start on the torso... except for menignaccocal which can start on the feet/legs.... but it doesn't sound like that. There's also hand, foot and mouth... but it doesn't sound like that either. Given that she doesn't have a fever then her body isn't fighting a significant internal invasion... indicates it's more likely to be external reaction... an allergy, or irritation (have you changed laundry powder recently?) The gastro symptoms could be co-incidental. Any sign of fever I'd see a doctor. Maybe in the mean time give Nurse On Call a ring... they should help... and ask the right questions.

ETA: illness does tend to come out in kids' skin in the form of rashes more frequently than adults. I don't know why this is... just something I have noticed.

Could be a number of things that kids pick up but I would be checking out any sort of rash especially if it is spreading quickly. Could even be a bite or something considering it is accompanied by vomiting and pooing?

Hi kit3n could be just Hives,the onset is very quick and is itchy,If it is that ask your chemist for Phernergan medicine,and check on dosage as it does have a slight sedative effect for a night time dose so they can get some sleep,hope this helps.Hives can be brought on from many things too,foods,drinks,medicines,even carpets,grass,pets,you never really know when a breakout will occur and it`s NOT contagious.Hope dd is feeling better very soon.
