Do you buy generic brands?

Vitamin D formulations vary widely, and the form that it's in determines how well it's absorbed and used. Could be the more expensive is actually a better product.

I make the decision on a case by case basis. There are real problems with some generics. Best example of this is the horrendous side effects of on many of the generic tamoxifens. Women have suffered awfully without realizing it was the interaction with the fillers and not the drug itself.

I didn't realise some of the generics have different fillers! Do they labels the fillers on the packaging? I always double check to make sure I'm getting the correct dose of the right thing when buying generics, but not realising about fillers might change my mind about a few things!

I also find, as far as kids medicines go, the branded stuff tastes better and goes down better (like Demazin... yum!).

Yeah, with anything for the kids, taste and no added food colouring is more important than price. Not much point in buying it if they wont take it.

Thankfully we haven't needed any prescription medications so far, though we would buy generic if possible if we do need prescription medication in the future. No point paying extra for brand names.

I use to have an anti seizure drug thats full price was over $100 it didnt have a generic either thank goodness for HCC. If I had the choice I would buy generic IF the ingrediants were the same.

generic unless the dr specifies it must be the branded one on the script.
As with what HotI said some are actually slightly different even though they say they arent. My mum has to get the branded med for her heart as the generic causes her palpitations to occur which is what they are supposed to stop. She actually has to fight with the chemist here to get them to give her the branded one as they no longer stock it because everyone just gets the generic, so now she has to pre-order it as she has come away with the generic one even after saying no i want the brand.
