I would suggest getting a scan done to check function. She could also check your pituitary gland, though if your TSH is responding as expected then that's probably not the problem. There are different kinds of thyroiditis with different causes. I'm not sure whether there's necessarily anything you can do about it, but you could at least find out.
I was diagnosed as hypothyroid yesterday. I'd been having problems for a while. Was losing weight in 2011 and then I stopped losing it and just kept putting it on no matter what I did. I went from walking and wiifiting every day AND losing weight to counting calories to the absolute minimum, working out, wiifit, waking and weights trying to keep losing weight an just progressively put it all back on. Then the fatigue kicked in and all that hard work got less and less. Also chronic constipation, anything below 25c is "too cold", symptoms of depression, etc etc. I have been seeing drs and dieticians and then recently head became really scattered, my memory is shot (it was eidetic) and then light-headed all the time. Went to the first dr who did a TSH and it was up, but my t3 was low normal. So she sent me for the tissue test and it came back okay so she ruled it out. After this was when I started getting light headed so I went to see her about that but she wasn't in, so I saw the first available dr. He sent me for a second TSH which came back worse than the first. Higher TSH for even lower t3.
So I am on the starting dose. 50mg every 2 days and have to go back for another blood test in 4 weeks.
Does anyone know when the tablets will start counteracting all the symptoms? Is there any chance at this dose that it won't? I am not sure how much longer I can do sleeping 12 hours a day and still being tired. And I really want to shift this weight back off again.
Side note: Super glad I didn't let myself get desperate enough to turn in that duromine prescription now.
