Thank you ladies. I have been unwell for quite some time now, probably since I was pregnant with DD2. I was admiring my weight gain in the mirror today(!) when I absently noticed that my neck appears to be quite fat. Charming, no? Anyway, it then occurred to me that I have most of the symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue and lethargy, weight gain, aching joints and muscles, intolerance to cold, constipation, dry coarse hair, dry skin... The clincher is that I am currently being treated for depression which we have linked to PTSD, but I have had no improvement on AD's and my only history of depression is PND after the birth of DD2. My mum has thyroid issues (she's not sure if it's under or over active!) and my grandmother had thyroid problems.
In some ways I hope the problem is my thyroid - at least we can treat it! Will get myself off to the GP in the next few days for a blood test.
I have symptoms of both, I have thyroid nodules 1 a reasonable size 4x5cm that is hyperactive and the rest of the gland is suprressed, my levels started to go up towards hyper then dropped back toward hypo currently sit on the low end of normal...I go through the whole range of symptoms currently have lots of joint pains and back in October had the carpel tunnel type pain in my left wrist/arm but these things come and go I found this quite interesting because i although i see a professor of endocringology i was unaware of exactly how this could all affect me but at the same time maybe i am better of not knowing while my levels are in the normal range not a whole lot I can do about it??
