    mentioning the unmentionable!!!

    Hemmeroids (sorry if TMI)
OK I am official fed up with my hemmeroids does any body else have an ongoing problem with them?
I had never had them before, my first one was towards the end of my PG when I had a chest cold and was coughing a lot (my first mistake).
I freaked out having never had them before, it was controlled with rectinol cream and all was fine after the birth of DD well oh my gosh, I had hemmeroids on top of my hemmeroids and the problem although no where near as extreme, is still around today and I have had enough!!!!.
everytime I go to the toilet it is tender and sore and wiping aggravates things but it tends to remain tender all the time, I can't really remeber a time before my sore butt!!!
The Dr said they can do a procedure called banding but they won't do it because I am planning to have at least one other child.
was wondering if anyone had any ideas for soothing a sore butt

My mum always swore by getting a latex glove, filling the fingers with water, tying a knot in them and freezing them, once they were frozen you just snipped one off and put it in your pants for relief - not sure if you are meant to insert them or not - didn't ask that.

There was a thread on this recently in the Post-Natal section. There were some great suggestions there. When I had them after Emily was born, the midwife gave me proctofoam - worked wonders! All the best!

There was also a thread started by Ezz in the Labour and Birth section with more suggestions mentioned. Sorry - I don't know how to post a link, but I'm sure if you have a look over there, you'll find it.

I had them bad in my last preg, and found some soothing wipes at the chemist. You can use them as a wipe after going to the toilet, or even wad one up and leave in sitting there for a while. i think they had witch hazel or something in them? Someone on one of the other threads said her chiropractor got rid of hers using a pressure point on her ankle? Might be worth looking into...

DO NOT insert the frozen finger, you do not want to go to DR and explain the you lost it. Just rest it between you butt cheeks.

good advice Charlotte that would be highly embarrassing!!!!! believe me nothing is getting inserted the pain is too much for that,
seems to be more external irritation, anyway thanks girls I might give the wipes a try have been using the flushable sorbent ones (have even been known to pinch some of DD bottom wipes)might inquire about the chiropractor thing will try anything at this point it has been giving me trouble for nearly two years in July, Enough is enough!!!

Hey Blizz, I have found that Nurofen for a couple of days can help relieve the swelling, along with some rectinol to help the irritation. If you have had them awhile though, definately look into some longer term treatments.
