My grandmother had renal issues for ages and then ended up with acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis. The only option with that is surgery but she unfortunately got septicemia and things didn't go well. Normally if they get it quick enough it will be all good.
If it's chronic pancreatitis you can lower fat intake, remove alcohol consumption, get pancreas enzyme tablets for digestion and if it's really bad, insulin injections.
