    Possible concussion? Advice/help

    This is pz df,

Lily wasn't feeling well this morning. She complained of a headache, and got up to get some water. She blacked out in the kitchen and hit her head on the handle of the pantry door. I was in the bathroom so I didn't realise at first.

She called out to me and I found her on the kitchen floor with a small cut on her forehead.

Now she is in bed, she is very drowsy, light hurts her eyes, she has a headache, she feels naseous, she felt like she wanted to throw up (no longer), she's pretty coherent but very drowsy.

I don't really know what to do, we haven't experienced concussion before. Do you think it's just shock, or a concussion? Obviously we'll go to the hospital if we have to, but lily would prefer not to.

    Thank you in advance.
    Ben.

Oh the poor thing, the drowsiness worries me that is a sign of concussion. I would suggest taking her to your GP to get checked out. In the meantime don't let her fall asleep, keep talking to her.

    Regards,

Take her to get checked as she is drowsy. Better to be safe than sorry.

    Hugs to her xoxo

oh Ben, poor Lily! From what i have experienced with concussion (which i admit isnt a lot) its best to let her rest but do NOT fall asleep (something to do with a head injury avoid sleep for a few hours) keep everything as dimmed as possible and plenty of fluids. Could you call the nurse on call people and just get an opinion of if they think medical attention is needed.

I would definitely take her in, there are a number of markers there for concussion and it would be best to get her checked out just in case

She is still in bed, I've kept her awake by playing games on my iPhone. She says she is still drowsy although it is easier to stay awake. Should she have some Panadol. I think I will ask nurse on call too.

Love that Ben was on here. Lovely for him to do that for advice. I'd get checked out PZ. Fainting isn't a good sign to begin with, and adding a whack to the head on top of that too, not so great.

Hope you're okay, they'll probably tell you all is good, but best to get checked out anyway
