I'm new to the forum - but found this thread and have read it all as it close to my own journey.
Mandii03 - wow I'm on a similar path with you I think and would love to hear what suggestions your Dr gave you about next alternative after Clomid! Good luck - I feel for you with the stress of waiting and hoping each time.
Been trying for 9mnths naturally, then diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries and low LH. Basically lots of small follicles but not maturing enought to ovulate - I think???!!! All very confusing to me and not great communication with my Dr. Not 100% sure that I'm ovulating at all, seem to be rising levels in blood tests but obviousely no happy ending yet!
Anyway, have done 3 months of Clomid (25mg, 1 each day 2-6) now this four month I'm taking 50mg, 3 each day 1 in morn and 2 in even day 2-6. I am abit shocked at rapid jump in dosage - but hope to ask Dr LOTS of questions soon!
Wondering myself, what happens next if this doesn't work - injections? HSG - Dr not even mentioned it!

Welcome to those of new who are new to this forum!
Newbie, I spoke to my doctor about the next step, and it's injections called Gonal. It's the drug they give you when you start IVF to mature follies so they can take collect them via surgery. I haven't got that far yet, so far the clomid has worked each month, 1 pregnancy ending in miscarraige and 2 were not successful. Keep trying, it might just take a bit more to get you going!
Kell- 34 weeks?! Oh my gosh. I hope the next 5 or 6 weeks go smoothly and you aren't too uncomfortable. I remember when I was that pregant with my first, I had to get out of bed to turn over! I was easier than trying to roll!
Stejen- I'll bet you can't wait for your 20 week scan? It's so exciting, becasue they look so real at that scan. Goodluck!
Katieboo- I have just taken Primolut (like prevera) and I am also very crabby wehn I'm on it! It takes between 3-7 days to bring on your period, and it can be a pretty painful one. Hope it arrives soon so you can start!
AFM: Sorry I've been AWOL for a while. After my well deserved month off clomid, I'm back on the journey. AF didn't turn up and HPT showed not pregnant so back on the Primolut N. Today is CD3 to clomid starts on Friday. I am hoping after a month off the side effects wont be back...but oh well. I'm on 100mg again this month, and u/s for follies on day CD15 (mine are late bloomers!). I'll keep you posted and I'll look forward to hearing how everyone's going.

Hi Everyone
I went to see docs yesterday and he has pushed me onto his partner which is an IVF specialist - similar to one that can perscribe me with drugs that have to be closley monitored he doesnt want me on clomid no more as it has done nothing for the last nine months. So I just wait for new appointment and see what they will do then. The wait is yuck!!!He rekons it may happen naturally while waiting but hey been trying since july last year so I am very negative towards that.
So I think hes booking me in for another lap to see if they can find anything else so the waiting game still on!!
Hope your all travelling well any one have any ideas let me know as i would love some sort of miracle

Just an update - have seen FS and besides never feeling so angry in my life at his attitude towards me asking questions, he provided some answer that I thought might be worth sharing. Because I'm ovulating he said I should stick with Clomid for anywhere up to 20months! Although in the next breath he said they should work within the first three months, best probability of success early on. He did say that continual usage of Clomid doesn't block oestrogen receptors (as I'd read) as effects of Clomid aren't cumulative but just each month..
Anyway, he said no to injections as that does the same thing as the Clomid is doing in stimulating FSH. Next month he'll do a HSG scan of fallopian tubes (only after I pushed him). His viewpoint is that I should try IUI if doesn't work in next couple of months. Personally that's not the way for me so I'll be taking a break from Clomid after 7months and then see. After quizzing him about vitamins etc that I could be on - he said definitely Folic Acid 500mcg and Elevit (multivitamins).
Becnaxi - thanks so much for the info on the injections - will have to ask my FS that next week (forgot the name this week!). I'm a late bloomer too ;) with follicles maturing at Day 18+ to date! Good luck
Mandii03 - Sorry to hear you've had no luck with Clomid to date! I hear you! I hope IVF works for you and the process isn't too emotionally draining.
Some alternative advice I got from a mid-wife might be of interest to you and anyone else out there

Hi Ladies
Sorry for the lengthy time between posts, I know pretty slack considering I have only just joined this forum a few months ago. Since my last post I have been on holidays, got engaged! woo hoo and it now appears that my TTC journy may be at an end according to the HPT I took this morning - actually I did all three of them as I couldn't believe my eyes! Maybe that holiday was just the thing we needed? Still needing to get to the Dr to confirm via blood test but I don't think 3 HPT could be wrong.
I can't believe it has happend so quickly after only one course of clomid I was sure I was going to be in this for the loooong haul. Can't get into GP for another two weeks as I now have to travel for the next week for work, so no doubt it will be the longest two weeks of my life. I'm not sure I am really going to believe it until I hear it from the Dr.
I can't stop shaking and crying - happy tears though! I honestly thought this was never going to happen.
Well fingers crossed we get a good result from the blood test. Will let you all know how it goes as soon as I know.

Hi there,
I am very new to this site, we have been TTC for about 12 months and still nothing. I have never had any problems with my periods but since having the implant removed I now have a 35 day cycle. We know my husband is fertile as he already has a child.
Just looking into heading to the dr to get some answers and possibly some clomid if necessary, does anyone know if I will need to see a gyno or just a GP? and if I have to see a gyno will I need a referral.

I think a gp can start you on clomid .If you want/need to see a specialist I think you'll need a referral,I 've always needed one.Good luck

You do need a referral from your GP to go to a specialist, otherwise you get nothing back from medicare apparently. Sorry to hear that you've been TTC for so long. I too am on a long journey (14 months), but we have one miracle after 2 years of trying, so I'm hoping that wanting another isn't too greedy!
There are some great fertility specialists around, and from my experience you are best to go with one of those becasue they will check everything before prescribing clomid or any other drug. I'm not sure where you are based but DR Gronow or any of the doctors at Melbourne IVF clinic in Fitzroy are excellent from what I've heard. You can ask your GP to refer you to whom ever you wish.

AFM: Scan No 1 today. It's Day 15 and no mature follies yet. Another scan on Friday (DS's 3rd birthday...how the time flies!)to see whats happening.

Hi girls!
Does anyone else have a billion scans per cycle of clomid to check for follies? I've have 3 this round already and possibly another on wednesday. What does your doc do?

hi becnxavi,i'm on my 4th round of clomid .Doctors have only sent me for blood tests,no scans people have been telling me that i should be going for scans so if not successful(a week to test)this cycle,i'm going to ask about having them throughout next cycle.

Hi Everyone,
I am new to all this bloging - just found i need the support as my husband and i are trying to have a baby.
I have PCOS and the doctor put me on Provera to bring on a period and then on my sec day of the period i start Clomid.
I am worried - i never thought i would need to help have a baby.
I had a miscarry in Sept 2007 - after then we didn't try - untill the last few months!
Could anyone tell me what i am in for????
I feel so alone - even though my husband is wonderful - he can never understand what it is like - i feel that i let he down.

Welcome to our forum. I have found this forum (and this site) to be a constant source of support. I have recenty been diagnosed at PCOS, ironically after I started clomid, during one of the scans. I was a bit shocked but hey there are much worse things I suppose!
Firstly I would say definately take the clomid at night before you go to bed. Most of the girls on here have found it to be much better at night. There is a chance you will get hot flushes, be tired, maybe feel sick and if you in the unlucky 1% you might get migraine like head aches (I'm hoping I was the 1% for all of us!). After the first round, usually the symptoms are not as severe, well at least thats been my experience.
Your doc may either schedule scans to check for follies, or a blood test on about day 21 to see if you've ovulated. As Matthew's mum said, ask for scans if you find things aren't going as planned. I know, for example, that I often don't ovulate untill day 25, so a blood test at day 21 isn't going to tell me much!
Lastly, we all here hope your journey is short but sweet. I have one beautiful miracle clomid baby, and hopefully all will go smoothly for yourself and everyone else here!

I am very excited!
I have just had a scan and I have a 26mm (the biggest follie I've ever had) and my blood test showed I'm surging so I'm going to ovulate on my own without the trigger shot!
