Question Reflux / Indegestion / Heartburn

Ok can someone tell me what the difference is?? Are they all the same, just interchangeable names?

The reason i ask is that today I tried a new product at work at around 11.45am and up until 6pm I was burping a lot (which is unusual for me) and I kept tasting what i had eaten. Even after I had something else later & when I was eating dinner. Is that the same thing, i.e one of the above?

Feeling a bit silly asking this, but I've never had this happen to me before. I never had heartburn in pregnancy either, so I don't even know what that's like LOL!

From my understanding of it, Reflux is where the stomach acids travel back up the osopheagus (sp?) and just sits there in the back of your throat. Indigestion/heartburn is the really bad pain in your chest, right between your boobs. Sometimes for me it is like I am being stabbed in the back with a hot poker when it is really bad. Often if I eat something that is strong smelling/tasting I will have it repeat on me - when I burp I can taste it *yuck*, usually stuff like onions and fish.

Sarah I've asked this question to the Dr because I didn't get it.

Heartburn is when you've got pain from the stomach acids burning your oesophagus (sp?) Indegestion is when you feel sick like you're going to vomit and after a good burp or ten it goes away (that is what I got when I was PG). There is usually no pain with indegestion, though not always the case.
Not totally sure about reflux but I know it involves both chucking and burning.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD or acid reflux) is a digestive disorder in which the liquid content of the stomach flows backward (regurgitates, or refluxes) into the esophagus. Acid reflux disease is referred to as "heartburn" because the most common symptom is a burning discomfort in the chest under the breast bone.

Heartburn is a burning sensation that radiates up from the stomach to the chest and throat. Here is some explanation of differences between reflux and heartburn.

Indigestion is when you feel uncomfortable or have pain after eating. The medical name for indigestion is dyspepsia.
