We ar going through something similar with DH at the moment! he has a problem with his shoulder and we are seeing a specialist on thursday to hopfully get a plan of action but it looks like a reconstruction will be the answer hes been off work since august as he is a chef and simply cant chef anymore and hasnt been able to find a job he is physically able to do, as a chef he was always employed as casual staff so he doesnt get paid either.
We have been soley on center link payments since then, we get $1200 ever two weeks, its really tough but its JUST enough....JUST!!!! DH gets sickness allowance and we get parenting payment and family tax A and B and rent assistance. we will have to go public too as we just got married and have no savings!
I hope they can fix you up quickly and the scan doesnt casue too many dramas!
You poor thing. Can you get the kids in a casual day at after school care? I know ours often lets people do that in an emergency.
If you go private it will be exxy- DH had an arthroscopy and some cartilage removal on his knee about 6 ys ago and we had PHI and we were more than 1K out of pocket. I would wait for public if at all possible, the cortisone injection may help for a while anyway.
DH had a similar thing in his shoulder mid way through the year. Had the labral tear, a cyst that needed removing. They weren't sure how bad it would be until they got in there though. Ended up being best case but still needed a cortisone injection which has done wonders and he got that for free. The op though cost us just over 1k out of pocket and we had PHI.
Hope it's all sorted soon and you can get in quickly.
