Ok, so after when i had my 6 week check up after Bodhi was born, my pap smear came back with abnormal cells. Apperantly its a high grade abdormality....CIN 3. Which is the stage b4 cervical cancer.
I hated the gyno that i saw. He looked at me like i was stupid when i asked what abnormal meant......i kinda thought it was a fair enough question. I have to have a "proceeder(sp)/ surgery to remove these abnormal cells.
My question for anyone is......has anyone had this surgery & what exactly are the risks involved in it? Also, are these abnormal cells likely to come back after they have been removed??
I also had a CIN three abnormality. I had the surgery done when I was 19, which is 8 years ago. I wasn't told the full risk of having the op for the CIN 3 level because they thought I was only CIN 2 until they actually started the op. I didn't know it was worse until everything was done.
For the first couple of years I had 3 monthly and then 6 monthly pap smears and when they continued to come back normal I went to yearly. I still have to have yearly but mine progressed very quickly so I need to be sure it doesn't come back. There will always be a risk that it will come back, but as long as you keep with your checkups it will be caught in the early stages and more easily dealt with. I was told to wait at least a year before have children, but I've had no side effects from the whole thing.
If you don't like your Dr find another one. You deserve a Dr that doesn't talk down to you and will take the time to answer your questions. You must be under a lot of stress at the moment so take care of yourself. All the best
