katt....i'm in qld also....as far as i know there is no public hospital in qld that will do a reversal....i tried to go public a few years back, but the only hospital at the time that was doing it was no longer taking any new patients....i am now going with IVF as there is a better success rate, well that is my opinion as well.....i can no longer have a TR as my tubes are ehavily damaged due to endometriosis and being butchered pretty much by the dr that did my TL....good luck on your TR journey....kiya

Hi Katt and welcome. I had the reversal in sydney but in the end went IVF much cheaper($1,450) and alot safer as Kiya said.

hi mumofsix thank you for replying. i'm really unsure which way to go. i see my doc on monday morning about the posibility of a reversal tho im seriously thinkin ivf, tho how can ivf be so cheap???

hi katt......i am going through Westmead down in NSW even though i live up here in Qld.....to do IVF up here in queensland it is starting price of $6,500 and that is not including your anaeathetist and hospital stay etc. these are extra and could cost up to and including $1,500 depending on where you are going etc....doing it at Westmead is cheaper even after adding airfares for both and extras.....i am doing an IVF/ICSI split doing half of the collect eggs with IVF thent he other half with ICSI (one egg, one sperm), and doing this cost a little more than IVF.....good luck on your journey.....kiya

I'm thinking like you and heading towards the idea of ivf. tho if i can ask a few questions if you dont mind?...............Once you decide to go ivf how long does it actually take to do the consultations or even get an appointment? Is there a waiting period or what? sorry to ask so many questions i'm just trying to find out as much as i can and i dont know who else to ask. thank you katt

Katt....I would be glad to answer some of your question. Here is there website to have a look at WestMead Fertility Centre
*Westmead is cheap cause they run a non profit program and they only charge the out of pocket expences.
*First you must call them and they will send you the information pack.
*There will be a list of fertility specialist that you can call to make an appointment to see in the pack. You must take any ultrasounds blood work results etc. You can normally get into see one within the month. Dr Ming Hng seems to any have a 4 weeks wait hes great.
*Once you have seen him and and got the ok from him he will then refer your file to westmead.
*So from the first time you see him to when you get your pregnancy results is around about 12weeks(well it was for me).
To speed things up its important for you and your partner to have a full blood count done and a sperm count for your partner and take all the results with you to your first appointment. I know hes not the problem but they will want it to be done.

thanks for answering my questions, doctor didn't say much she's referred me to a gyno to get his opinion which isn't til the end of next month. tho she seems to think reversal is the way to go then i told her about westmead and then changed her mind. my partner rang them yesterday and left name and address for info pack to be sent out. so i'm hoping that i have the info from them before i go and see the gyno more money that i have to pay out just for an opinion.
another q if you don't mind..............i'm classed as a high risk pregnancy does that effect the doctors opinion on doing the ivf at all?

when you say high risk, how high risk are you ? are you high risk in your pregs or in general ? cheers....kiya

high risk as in throw up the entire time, 3rd one good placenta previa grade 4 n was 8 weeks early, n my last one started to shut my liver down, n im not allowed to exercise while pregnant n two miscarriages

Hi Katt....i know all about having a grade 4 placenta previa, i had it with my last one along with a DVT in my right leg....i eventually delivered a very successful VBAC with the last and at 38 weeks with no pain relief and a midwife pulling her out at only 7cm because my cervix tilted in the wrong direction and was placing her head in the wrong direction to her body....i agree with Mumof6, speak with your gynae about it all....my last was my only high risk preg, but now i also have endometriosis, but that is ok to do my IVF as i have good pregs except for the last thats all.....where are you in Bris ?

thanks uhm im on the northside of brisbane, redcliffe area. for some reason my doc reckons tr is the way to go but im siding more with ivf less of a hassle, tho have to talk it out with gyno next month. the doc doesnt seem to have a problem with me having another one tho and shes been there thru out all of my pregnancies cept for my last two when i basically lived in the hospital. hoping if i cross everything i might be starting ivf around august or maybe september since three of my kids have birthdays in august/sep there two weeks apart!

katt....at the end of the day it will be your decision which road you plan to take TR or IVF.....everyone is different and for that need different treatments to have a baby....best of luck on your journey....cheers kiya

Katt only thing is with TR is the eptopic pregnancey rate which is high. They cant be sure it will even work after it being done or how long it could take to fall. But as Kiya said we all make our own choices based around our lives and whats best for us.

katt, welcome. I had my tr done by cooper in sydney and i live in north queensland. I had the reversal and hystosalpingiograms and ended up with 4 ectopics. I have just suffered the last one. I am hoping to travel the ivf too but i am glad i had the reversal even though i have had the ectopics. I had so much trouble with my af after the ligation. it cost me a fortune and now i am paying for ivf too. If your tubes have been cut and tied, (depending on the length left) it can be very difficult to establish what the best option for you is. Have you a laproscopy done to have a look at there condition? i ]\
