Ulcerative colitis

Hi
I am pregnant and have ulcerative colitis. I am taking medication for it which has it currently under control. I'm worried about going through labor with this condition as my specialist says that I will have to discontinue my meds in my last trimester.
Has anyone else been in this situation?

Hi,
Well hopefully you are one of the one-third of patients in with their disease under control that stays in remission in pregnancy. I'm not sure what meds you are on but I also have IBD and my meds are Category A therefore considered safe in pregnancy.

Perhaps you could ask your doctor about an alternative medication that you can take for your whole pregnancy.

Dee I tried P.m ing you but you have is disabled. P.M me and I'll let you know my story, I'm currently in remission but was on meds for 7 months of DS pregnancy. He's 7 months and I'm still in remission, no meds and feel great, fingers crossed.
