    what is this horrible pain!

i woke up last night with this extreme cramp in my tummy (not like a period pain cramp) it kind of took my breath away and only lasted about 20 seconds, but it keeps coming and going. its so painful, to the point where i am actually leaning over going 'aaaaarrrrggggggghhhhhh' then it stops!

its like high up in my tummy, just in the centre below my rib cage.

i cant go to the docs till dp is home, i have an appt at 4.40. what a long day its going to be!

i have panadeine forte, not sure if i should take one though..

Kind of sounds like what I had the last time I had gastro - until the pain settled lower in the bowels, and I got diarrhoea anyway - fingers crossed for you that its not though, and is something not serious!!

hey there- it could be bowel spasms. Can you get some buscopan. Its a natural product so it won't hurt you if it is not that, but will make a difference if it is! Spasms are so painful and cause the type of pain you are talking about.

also there are glands just above your belly button in your stomach, so it could be them flaring up, esp if you have a virus or getting over one! Esp if your other glands in your neck, underarms or groin are also swallon. That is also painful as well. The only treatment for that is just pain relief.
HTH and you get some relief soon
    how about a heat pack???

KB if it is gastro I wouldn't take panadeine forte as the codeine can make you constipated and that's the last thing you want to do with a tummy bug - stop it being cleared out.

Try normal panadol. If you don't have any other gastro symptoms is it possible it's anywhere near where your appendix might be? That's the kind of doubling-over pain I remember.
