Are all cups made equal? (menstrual cups, that is)

Hmm not sure hun. I bought them about 18 months ago so possible the old ones? They're very easy to use, and they're malleable but not super soft. As for working out, I used to run wearing it, I was never more active than that The first few months it's a little hit and miss so I wore a pad too, but after that it was amazing. You can even have sex mess free if you're game (but it's nothing to write home about because the cup takes up a bit of space) but the option is there. I have extremely heavy periods and I could still leave it a few hours. I'm a big fan of menstrual cups I kind of even look forward to AF just so I can use them

I recently bought a meluna classic stem and like PZ said they throw in a freebie. It's fantastic. I don't even know it's there, it's much better than tampons as my first few days are really heavy. I sleep with It in too and have gone bike riding with it in. It's easy to use. I cut the stem off because it was annoying, I'd get the ball next time!

Another mooncup fan here but only ever tried it. I have no issues with it now - like someone said, the first few months were a bit messy getting it in properly. I do still find it a bit icky to empty in the loo - you need lots of loo paper! But in the shower is a breeze. I always give mine a soak in milton (as recommended) at the end of each use and put it away disinfected. It does go a bit yellow and the milton gets it back really clean looking! You need to give it a good wash and clean at least once a day and a rinse/wipe out during the day.
I sleep in mine too and only ever had slight spill over when I've had a big sleep in - say maybe 9-10 hours.

Yay jackrose! Mine definitely took a few cycles to get used to it. But I'm hooked for sure. In fact i'm in the middle of some unexpected travel which sees me out of the house for a the start of my AF and woohoo - i just have to bring that tiny cup with me. Sooo much easier than packing tampons! We are staying at friends and family and then a at least 7 plane trips - i'm not in the least bit worried about when AF arrives.

Heaven - yes to sleeping. DH finds it funny. He thought it would all spill out. But it forms a seal. It never hurts. You don't that horrible heavy tampon feeling ITMS. And the environment loves me more now. I was lucky that i am a SAHM, so those first few goes were a bit trial and error, and i could do it at home (with nosey kids though!).

My Meluna is an extra soft one and i don't find the stem uncomfortable. (I am a little scared that if i cut it off, i'll lose the cup somewhere!)

I just don't get the mechanics of it all - how do you get it out without spilling it everywhere?! I'd be worried about a juice box type explosion - you know those juice boxes with the little straws, and if you squeeze the box all the juice squirts out the straw? LOL! The image I have of getting it out is somewhat acrobatic....

I agree that my AF is different with a cup. Not lighter - that would be too much to ask for, but definitely heavier initially then over faster.

I see Meluna do a sport version now.

Div - mine is a 34ml cup. If you know how heavy your AF is you can kinda work out how often you might need to change it. I only do morning and night after day 2. It's so much easier when you can just do morning and night.

Sex with a cup - i'm not sure how that works? Good on you guys for not letting that stop ya

I found it handy to keep some of those toilet wipes (those moist wipes you can use as an alternative to toilet paper). Then I can clean my fingers if I need to, and have a wipe and clean up any blood. It feels so much cleaner. Sometimes when I am not in a clean bathroom (or last time we went camping) this is how I cleaned it out.

I keep wondering why everyone isn't using them! Nothing quite like carrying around your entire years supply of 'tampons' in your handbag at all times. Never need to get caught short, so to speak.

That's not on - maybe you should flush one and hope it gets stuck so he gets the point of why a bin is needed.

Something about the new toilet being the minimum size for a disabled toilet, have to be careful where things are place Either that or he is just embarrassed by organising a bin. Once the reno is over and the boys are back to their own toilet, I may just go ahead and order one
