So Bath, can I pick your brains?? Further to what was said above, my office is in the back left hand corner of the house - and somehow I've just landed a job I'm really excited about. The Bear is looking too, but outside his office is this problem area, with the staircase. The problem is the staircase is dark, and the banister/ railing is a bit dangerous for DD so at the moment it has boxes along the side to prevent her posting things (herself included) down the stairwell. I was going to get a banner (using a photo) made to go along the side of the banister which would stop her going in and enable us to move the boxes. So I am thinking I need to use a photo with elements of earth and reflection, possibly with yellow and/ or fiery colours. Do you think that would help? and is a photo of a reflective surface ok as opposed to an actual mirror? I am keen to stop all our prosperity being sucked out!

I've been thinking about this lately too Bath, our last two homes had corners cut off, from memory related to children and career, but this house is a much more regular shape and still has its corners. Since we have been here I have had a lot of success looking for work and I wasn't even looking IYKWIM. Bit worried about the middle zone though, because right in the middle is a dark and dangerous stair case down to the garage and guest room. Do you know what this zone relates to?
Can you get one of those indoor water features?

Now matter how hard you try, you won't really be able to find a Feng Shui book comprehensive enough. The true masters study for years and years and don't often release books - and if they do the cheeky buggers will never give you the full story or explain each and every point because they protect their knowledge and rightly so I suppose

Lulu unfortunately there is really nowhere to put one. The Bear and I agree that if it was our house we would just cover the staircase over, but as its a rental we are a bit limited with what we can do.
